How picturesque and quiet it was. I liked how the cottage has been maintained within the era, whilst also having more modern features (heater, tv). The beds were extremely comfortable, there was also DVDs and board games. Lots of information and history about the local area and the cottage itself. There was kindling and firewood also available, with information about which fireplaces were not to be used. We enjoyed taking a step back in time and staying in the cottage as did our son. We had an appreciation and respect for the cottage and hope to return again if ever in the area.

Tarni and Clive are kind and welcoming hosts and fun to chat with. The old hotel building is wonderful to see. Blue room was comfortable and spacious. The resort was clean and tidy, although could use with some updating, it felt a little tired. The spa in the room was by far the highlight, the view looking out the window was peaceful. We were excited to go to the pool and spa area as it looked so good on the website, but we were disappointed when we got there that the spa had been drained and was not in use. We already knew that the day spa area itself was closed for renovations so this just added to the disappointment, and I'm not sure if this was all factored into the cost or not as the room rate was ok but could have been less considering lots of facilities were not in use. Also it seemed odd that the pool area closes at 5pm when the staff go home, bit of a rush to have a swim as check in is 3pm. The meal at the restaurant was delicious but very expensive, I got the steak which was an extra $10 and then sides another additional cost, I felt the steak was overpriced once you added sides. The entrée lettuce gems were divine, and we thought the rolls with entrée would have been a nice local sour dough or similar, but they were just the regular oval shaped rolls that we get at the local supermarket at home. The wait staff at the restaurant were fantastic and very welcoming and friendly. I would suggest getting an upper floor room as you can hear the spa above when you are in a ground floor room, it wasn't a huge deal but just a tip for those who are unsure whether to pay the extra cost, I think it would be worth it and I hope we return sometime in the future and we will do the same. The area is gorgeous, so many great little stops along the way from Ballarat, and Woodend is a cute little town. As the restaurant at the resort wasn't serving breakfast, we went into town to Paysanne cafe and give it 5 stars.

Chris the host was super friendly, location was great. Waking in the morning with a wonderful view of Mt Macedon through the garden was a great surprise. The sun warmed the room while we ate a wonderful breakfast prepared by Chris. Room was a great size, well heated, very comfortable and private. Macedon is a sleepy town, not far from Gisborne where food choices are excellent.

bathroom was nice, i liked that they didn’t use single use plastics, room was clean and comfortable. sheets a little worn, for an older hotel it was still very reasonable. great location for our needs. easy check in and out. good communication from the owners.
