Maldon is a beautiful little town with lots of shops open on the weekends. The pub was shut when we were there on the Sunday but have eaten there before and it was lovely. Great place if you're doing the Steam Train from Castlemaine.

We were using it as a stop on our way home from a longer trip. I found the locals wonderful, sad to see some shops empty or closed when we were there so I obviously need a longer stay. Need to check out whats on and when first.

It is unfortunatel that the town has suffered badly with restaurant closures following Covid. Presently there is only one place to have dinner outside of fish/chips and pizza. The shops that are open are very country and fun have a little poke around.

Maldon is a charming town full of character, arts, history and great places to eat. It is also a short drive to other amazing towns like Newstead, Castlemaine and Daylesford. A beautiful inland getaway

Maldon is a well-preserved historic gold-rush town.

Maldon is a well-preserved historic gold-rush town. Highlights are the town bakery, the vintage train station, the old goldmines and the vintage machine museum. It is located close to Castlemaine and further north to Bendigo.

Staying in Maldon is like stepping back in time, when life was simpler. The shops are more than adequate and have a large selection of antiques shops, to fossick through. There is an IGA supermarket, newsagent and pharmacy in the main street. There is a true sense of community and the locals will always have a chat to you. It would be great if the choice of restaurants and hotels, would be more consistent. I would recommend to prebook, especially for the Easter Festival, but even then unexpected things happen, which leaves you trying to find places to eat. The pubs serve classic pub food. Looking forward to trying Francos Italian restaurant and hoping French restaurant Le Sol, goes back to serving dinners. The Golden Nugget Restaurant in Porcupine Village, serves a delicious, Sunday, roast lunch.

We popped up to Maldon for the weekend and this cottage was excellent. We arrived with the air conditioner on for us which was a pleasant surprise, the rooms and beds were comfortable, the gardens we lovely, and best of all it was working distance to the main street. We enjoyed a drink on the front porch and loved chatting to the chooks in the backyard. Overall highly recommended.

The hospitality when you arrive seeing the food hamper. The personalised service offered by Jaimee and Jamie. The comfortable furnishings and appliances which give Fairbank a homely feel. The spacious layout of rooms and bathrooms. The walking proximity to the main Maldon St. The manicured, relaxing gardens. The fact that Fairbank accepts furry family.

A charming little home in the countryside. The tiny house was comfortable and surprisingly roomy. Being mostly off grid was so easy! It was a really lovely experience being amongst the apricot orchard with visiting kangaroos and even a curious hare. 😊 Being close to the beautiful Maldon village was an added bonus.
