Swansea is stunning as a region and perfect to serve as a base for exploring the Tasmanian east coast. Everything is in range of a short drive, and there are excellent accommodation options with glorious views to be had.

Swansea is a small seaside town.

Swansea is a small seaside town. The interaction I had with the local people was very informative and pleasant. It is a very quiet town, excellent if you are looking for something very restful. We were there in late September with the weather still chilly. Walking in the area is great as I had experiences with an echidna, potoroo and blue tongue lizard. We went to Coles Bay, Freycinet and Bicheno on a day trip.

Retirement by the sea. Very few young people.

Retirement by the sea. Very few young people. Standout IGA & General Store. Indifferent (and rude) staff at one high profile take away!! BUT WAIT - the place you must go to is the iconic Melshell Oyster Shack at nearby Dolphin Sands. Not fancy buildings, just genuine people concentrating on the perfect oysters. World-class award winning taste sensation.

Didn’t see much of Swansea.

Didn’t see much of Swansea. Booked the place for Freycinet national park. It is about 45 min from the national park but there were a few interesting seafood place along the way. It’s a quiet little town and IGA closes at 6pm. There is an EV charger in town. I think it makes an ideal place to stopover if you want to relax visit the oyster farm and wineries around the area.

Very easy to travel round, ate at the RSL couple nights, both very busy, good choice of food, good prices. It was off season and a few eating places were closed. We drove around the Bay of Oysters to Freycinet but it poured rain the whole time which was very disappointing.

Plenty of space and very comfortable and warm. Good sized garden equipped with furniture, fire pit and bbq. Lovely balcony area. Nice quiet neighbourhood. Close to the town (3 mins drive, 30 mins walk), beautiful beach nearby (5 mins walk). Would recommend Poppy's Bistro in the RSL and Swansea Golf Club (very reasonable rates).

Stunning view from the well equipped, comfortable chalet. We sat happily looking across the bay to the Freycinet peninsula. Swansea is a peaceful little town with reasonable options for dining. The chalets are well kitted out to allow you to prep meals as well.

This is the cleanest and nicest caravan Park I have ever been to in years. Cabins seem newly built with brand new amenities. It is very well maintained.
