Excellent comms from Matthias both before and during the stay. Ideal location, right in the heart of the centre. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable with loads of facilities (coffee machine, fridge, iron, hairdryer etc etc). Room has been refurbished to a high spec.

The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. The location is perfect. 30sec walk to the In Flanders Field Museum and the market, 15min from the train station and close to all the restaurants in Ieper. Also, a really beautiful 30min walk away from the Essex Farm Cemetery. The free breakfast has scrambled eggs & bacon, boiled eggs, cold cut meats and cheeses, pastries, cereal, yogourt, juice, coffee, etc. Exceptional value. Highly recommend.

The location is the best in the city - in a stunningly beautiful Grote Markt. Overnight parking in the Markt is possible for free until 8 AM and thereafter one can pay to remain. As we were there for only a single night, this was a good option for us. We had notified the hotel of a very late arrival and although the front desk was not staffed, room cards and a written welcome were on the counter, which was very useful. The breakfast is excellent. This place is fantastic, just book it.

What a great hotel. The location is perfect for visiting Ypres with a short journey (about 5 minutes) to the Menin Gate. The hotel is in the grounds of some WW1 trenches which is now simple tourist attraction (if that is the right word) available for 1 Euro. Next door is the Hooge Crater Museum which is over the road from the cemetery. Upon arrival the lady on reception was very helpful. The breakfast whilst simple is exactly what one would hope to start the day.... Coffee, meats and cheese and enough pastry's and bread. Finally, a lovely bar.... On our first night this was open as we returned and we could have a nice couple of drinks with no rushing as we were the last two in. The second night the bar was not open (but it was later) and I wonder if they close up when nobody is about. An excellent hotel and one not only would I recommend, but I would also use again

The last post ceremony is impressive, whenever you come to watch it. It is a must for visitors, but the Menen gate should be too. The war museum is well thought out, you need a few hours to do it justice. A visit here should definitely be combined with a visit to the Tyne cot cemetery in Passendale, to get a complete sense of the WWI tragedy in this area.

Ypres is a very beautiful small city with very rich history...

Ypres is a very beautiful small city with very rich history which goes back to the middle ages. The market place is marvelous. We attended the last post at the Menin Gate and visited the Flanders Fields Museum. There are several military cemeteries, well-preserved sites with trenches in the neighborhood.

We use The Albion in Ypres as a stop over when we travel around Europe & attend the Last Post Service at 8pm every night. The Hotel is a five minute walk from the Menin Gate & the town centre & various restaurants.

I love Ypres and make regular trips to visit World War 1 sites. The town is clean, safe, pretty and atmospheric. I have always been made to feel welcome. It has a very special feel which has to be experienced.

Ypres in autumn was just beautiful with the wonderful trees...

Ypres in autumn was just beautiful with the wonderful trees along the city wall. The city streets were clean and well maintained, and there were plenty of eating options for all budgets. Best of all is the link the city has with WWI. The In Flanders Fields museum is among the best along the Western Front, and the nightly blowing of The Last Post at Menin Gate is greatly moving. A wonderful city to visit.

A lovely town with a great atmosphere.

A lovely town with a great atmosphere. Loads to see and do, especially if you are interested in the towns place in the history of WW1. Very honourable to attend the daily last post at the Menin Gate.

Absolutely charming hotel on the outskirts of Ypres, steeped in history with war history within the grounds and a museum about 50 metres away. Really beautiful place, good parking, clean comfortable rooms and extremely nice breakfast. Helpful staff, family run, cant recommend it highly enough. About a 10 min drive into Ypres Centre but so worth staying outside because of the history of this place.

quiet location, within easy walking of the the centre. Very good bar, with lots of seating. Easy to find location, if driving or riding. Some hotels in Ypres have limited or non existant parking. Ample parking at Flanders Lodge.

The landlady was excellent and hotel placed only a short walk from the centre of Ypres. Plenty of free parking in the street so no hassle trying to find somewhere to leave car.
