Beautiful hotel, nice pool with artificial waterfall, there's a gold mine in the hotel and a room with games. Breakfast is delicious, plenty of options. The rooms are clean an confortable. People say it's too small but it's a regular size for a couple.

The pousada is very nice with an exceptionally helpful and kind owner, who could not have done more to ensure I felt at home. The rooms have everything you need with hot water, tv and wifi. The breakfast is wonderful with delicious cake baked by the owner! And the hotel has a great view from the balcony! The owner kindly arranged breakfast for me early on the day I left and even offered to drop me at the bus station. He could not have been more helpful so I really enjoyed my stay for 3 nights. The location is great for the bus station (about 15 mins walk) and about 20-25 minutes walk into Ouro Preto.

The colonial style. It is not luxurious but it did have its charm. It had an excellent bed, excellent linen. Bathroom was good. Pretty good breakfast. Remember this hotel is small and more like a boutique style. True to the local culture.

I'd visited Ouro Preto 31 years earlier on a motorbike.

I'd visited Ouro Preto 31 years earlier on a motorbike. It had not changed a great deal in that time. With its cobbled streets and main square, and old churches scattered about on the steep hill tops. What had changed is there are now numerous artisan shops and places to eat and some fantastic hotels, like this one. We stayed for 4 nights during carnival time. An extra day just to chill out in the milder mountain climate would have been ideal, as it is quite tiring walking up and down the steep cobbled hills. 4 nights outside of carnival time would probably suffice normally, as there is not that much to do or see. It's just a beautiful town with lovely mountain climate. We went for the first day of carnival which was disappointing. One large stage that did not get going until 10.30pm (Due to heat) when it promptly poured with rain. After 20mins this really dampened peoples spirits.

Don't miss it at all, so many details to be seen. Full architecture and artistical possibilities. Rich gastronomy. Historical value in each corner. Strongly suggest to visit Mariana and Congonhas (couple outher towns, first is just 20 min drive and former 1h 30 minutes.

Ouro Preto is a well-preserved historic site from the 17th century, with several churches from the Baroque period, decorated with elaborate wooden sculptures covered in thin layers of gold. However, the slippery, uneven road surface and steep access roads make travel undesirable for the elderly and people with mobility problems. It is also recommended to be in good shape to face steep streets.

It is a beautiful quaint town with good restaurants, beautiful churches and other points of interest. However, walking was a challenge as it is hilly with cobblestone or rock streets. With tennis shoes, or good walking shoes it is no problem. the people were very friendly and helpful. We ate one night at Bene de Flat--excellent and the second night at the gastropub.very good and they played great music from the 70's.

Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value.

Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value. I've learned a lot about Brazil's history by a city tour in a "Jardineira". We walked around without any problem. The people are very friendly and good talking. Favorite spot is the "Museu da Inconfidencia" and "Igreja Nossa Senhora do Pillar", the first one built there and covered with gold interior. We visited also a deactivated mine with guidance, the guides explain a lot of the processes for mining gold at XVIII century there. Fun fact: a lot of brasilian slangs have the origin at there and at that time.

Ouro Preto is unique.

Ouro Preto is unique. I'm a big fan and have been there many times. The Museums are great; the Casa dos Contos is fantastic. The people are nice and helpful. An excellent restaurant is Cafe & Cia.

This hotel is an historical gem. So it is more the experience then the comfort, though we slept very good there and the breakfast was good. But everything is really very old. If you are in for modern beds etc. then this is not the place for you. But if you want to feel how it was to live in a place like that then this is a must. The views are lovely from the room and it is round the corner of the main square

The setting and facilities were charming as were the staff. The hotel was very clean, with great offerings for breakfast as well as if dining or having a cocktail. The staff were very helpful and it was also great to have a valet service for the period we had a car.
