A very good and friendly atmosphere. We stayed for one week and everyday we felt very welcome and the owners were very helpfull during our stay. Not many times you can consider those running a pousada as friends but we felt we were like friends quite fast. We also spent some time together with the owners when we went out for a nice stay at a local natural pool. The owners went beyond what you could expect during a stay. Giving us lifts to the beach, waterpark and other locations. Also when we needed something everything was taken care of in a matter of minutes. On our way back we used the transfer to the harbor, a very relaxing way of transport. Since I'm a vegetarian and sometimes the options can be limited I thoroughly enjoyed the food I took with me was prepared for me. Also my family and I enjoyed the daily fresh breakfast with local cheese, bread, eggs, fruit and cake. The meals were also very good. There were some shows during and stay and we also enjoyed these. Even more because of the cocktails served and the lively atmosphere during the shows. The pool is also very good and John cleans the pool everyday. All in all a very nice stay and highly recommended if you inted to stay in Joanes.

My stay at Casa da Mata was incredible. I came as a solo female traveler and had a great time! The hosts were super helpful for arranging my transport, food, and different activities. It was great to learn about the local plants and animals and culture and get immersed in the experience. There are also several nice beaches nearby. Everything was perfect, I can't recommend the visit enough!

It was wonderful that it was so peaceful, they gave me an upgrade for a small fee, and on the last day we could keep the rooms until 4 pm, this is really incredible and very very helpful. Breakfast was really really good also, loads of fruit and local things.

Great location, very close to the boat terminal and food market. Free black coffee and occasional pineapples! Suely put up with my lack of Portuguese language/ use of Google translate very patiently 🤣 She also helped me when my card didn’t work in any of the local ATMs. I felt very welcome despite being on my own. The pousada is very cute, lots of plants everywhere! Upstairs there is a space to chill out, including a hammock. I don’t think there’s enough photos of the garden in the description so I’ve added some more I took myself 😊

Salvaterra is a tropical paradise, however it needs better infrastructure to receive tourists and government attention to the preservation of the region's historical memory and heritage. It has beautiful beaches that are easily accessible for those with a car. Unfortunately, those who go without a vehicle will face difficulties accessing the area, as the city does not have public transportation.

Salvaterra is beautiful, but less comfortable than Soure, which is very close. The beach is beautiful, but establishments like markets are a bit further away, requiring transportation by car or motorcycle to most places. Transportation options are not cheap, with a 20-minute taxi ride costing around 50 reais.

A typical rural village in northern Brazil.

A typical rural village in northern Brazil. Good food, very friendly people. Pleasant weather. I highly recommend going by car to be able to explore Marajó Island at your leisure. I heard that taxis overcharge tourists.

Great excursions to the beaches and communities, where there...

Great excursions to the beaches and communities, where there are creeks for swimming. It's worth going to Cachoeira do Arari to visit the Marajó Museum and crossing over to Soure to see the beaches, have ice cream, and especially the Caruanas Institute, one of the best memory centers in the country.

Salvaterra has an excellent beach and reasonable...

Salvaterra has an excellent beach and reasonable infrastructure for tourists, but it's necessary to travel to Soure to visit the main attractions in the region. Along the beachfront there are kiosks with good food and a Carimbó dance on Fridays.

Great and endless options for leisure activities in nature, few restaurants or supermarkets, but you can find what you need: a natural haven for birds, lush and clean beaches that are still preserved and beautiful. Worth a visit!!!
