Dawson city is a fun place to be, especially in the tourist season.
There are a surprising number of good restaurants, and Diamond Tooth Gertie’s is always entertaining. There is so much history that you can access wandering around Dawson itself:however; if you want to take a tour of the Canadian heritage locations, book ahead at the tourist info location. People there are really friendly.
Tombstone national Park is worth a visit, up the Dempster Highway. If you have rented a car, check with the Car agency first as to whether you can take the car up the Dempster. There is also a tour that will take you there.
There are lots of places to stay, and a number of B&Bs. Some of the hotels can be expensive during tourist season, but if you want cheap, clean, and cheerful try the Bunkhouse. There are shared washrooms, but I hardly saw anybody else in them and they were exceptionally clean and well stopped.
We went at the beginning of September, and we were treated to a nice display of Northern lights.
It is a 7 Hour drive from Whitehorse, but it is worth the effort if you can do it

I like Dawson City very much.
I like Dawson City very much. It is a very unique small town and has features of a bigger city you wouldn't expect to find, such as fine dining, good coffee, a spa/ vegan restaurant, two well-stocked grocery stores. Of course the big draw at DC is the history. The town has done a good job of presevering its heritage 1890s character with many of the original buildings intact though I would assume renovated. I am a history buff so I was there for the history. My first stop was the Visitors Centre which is excellent. The staff is very helpful and dressed in period garb. There are displays, maps, a Parks Canada desk and four continuously running short films. I booked three tours: a History walking tour, Keno paddlewheeler tour, and Dredge 4 tour. All were excellent. I also did the Top of the World drive as far as the Alaska border, about a 4-hour round trip. Beautiful. I would have driven to Tombstone Park but I was prohibited from traveling up the Dempster Highway in my rental car. I'm sure there are plenty of options for adventurous travelers like paddeling on the Yukon River, mountain biking, hiking, etc. but those aren't really my things. One aspect of Dawson everyone should be aware of is that stores, cafes, restaurants appear to close on a whim. Check with the Visitor Centre on what's open the day(s) you are there so you aren't disappointed. Even then, there were a few sites I didn't get to because they were closed. I highly recommend a visit to Dawson City however you plan on spending your time there. It's a true Canadian treasure.

The visitor information was great.
The visitor information was great. Town is clean and done like Klondike days. Stores closed to early by 6:00pm. So walking around sight seeing down the streets have to be early. Just watch for times of restaurants.
Two days there is good unless doing outdoor activities. A must see town.

I loved the way the town of Dawson City has kept the historical flavour. The Sourtoe bar and the Greek Travina restaurant were great. Loved the ice cream shop and the bakery on the Main Street. The walk along the River is very nice.

Dawson city is an amazing little town.
Dawson city is an amazing little town. They have excellent food in all the places we went too. The best place was the Aurora restaurant.
You can walk easily around Dawson city and enjoy the many colourful places around town. Plus the beautiful views.
Best place we went to was the Gold Trail Jewellers. The guy who makes the jewellery “Andrew” is amazing. Andrew has been making jewellery for 52 years and still loves making it. I got a couple of things from him and they all feel good energy from each piece I put on. Would recommend 100% to stop in and watch him work and buy a little something to take home with Yukon gold.

Rooms and bathroom / shower facilities were exceptionally clean. Showers come with shampoo and conditioner and plenty of hot water. Rooms were just right for a 2 night stay in Dawson City; fresh clean sheets on the bed, towels and bar of soap, a small fan and an electrical block were all provided. Team working at the the office and around the hotel were friendly and made check in a breeze. The location was perfect, with all the key spots being within a 2-5 minutes walk of the hotel. Free parking on either side of the hotel.

We booked at the last minute during a festival. The town was packed. We had just returned from a 10 day camping trip and wanted to relax. Even with the bustle in town, the hotel was quiet and clean. The laundry was excellent and the staff friendly and professional
Basic motel but everything was OK. Wifi and parking without any problem. Good location if you have a car, on the Klondike highway, max 5 mins to Dawson city. Near the turnoff to Bonanza Creek.
