It’s a lovely town , with attractive and well provided boutiques and shops, numerous restaurants, cafes and bistros. the whole area is worth visiting. You can walk around and spend a whole day just browsing and window shopping and sipping a coffee or a glass of wine.

A fabulous little town.

A fabulous little town. Friendly people lots of facilities and plenty to do in town and surrounding areas. Great choice of restaurants and bars in the area. Recommend the Vic, 555 brewing, the Russ and Co., a visit to the marina or a fabulous walk around the neighbourhood. Also keep an eye on events in the town show grounds and local wineries and breweries. I highly recommend this property, the hosts and Picton.

It seemed like the area isn’t very touristy — many shops were closed over the weekend, and I couldn’t really find any nice spots to enjoy dessert. The farmer’s market that was advertised had only about 10 vendors, so it felt a bit smaller than expected. Overall, the promotion felt a little overstated.

Prince Edward County (PEC) is foodie place.

Prince Edward County (PEC) is foodie place. We had wonderful meals there at restaurants and at some of the local wineries. The staff at these places were very friendly. It was easy getting around Picton and PEC. We went on a hike at Little Bluff conservation area, but must admit that there was not much to see. I would suggest another conservation area/hike. We did not go to Sandbanks Provincial Park (very busy) so I'm thinking that is a better site to visit. I was expecting the quaintness and stunning scenery of Niagara on the Lake, however, we did not find that type of scenery or access to such locations. Once again, perhaps we were not in the appropriate locations. For us, it was a nice 2 day getaway to a place we had not visited before.

We liked the size of the room and the lovely swimming pool area. The room was clean. The common fridge in the hallway, coffee machine and few snacks were great. The shower was very tiny. The street corner a bit noisy with traffic. Noisy AC in the room.

Picton and Prince Edward County is suitable for short stays,...

Picton and Prince Edward County is suitable for short stays, ~4. Some of the attractions are not open in the winter. The location's activities are heavily skewed towards three-season summer activities. The Royal Canadian Navy archives are in Picton as well as a huge number of books on naval and boat things. I found it easy to spend a half day there.

Our stay at Merrill House was very comfortable, with a bed and pillows that let you sink into relaxation and sweet dreams. The room we stayed in 'The Marchioness of of Lorne' was on the ground floor facing the front. It was large and the bathroom was great. Such a beautiful hotel with lots of character and great staff. Breakfast was also very satisfying. Fantastic location, easy walk to town. I think the hotel was full but during the day it was quiet and hardly saw any other guests.

Great property in a very convenient location. Facilities were good, though with a family of 5 we could have done with a few more serving bowls. Hot tub was lovely, garden area was well maintained. We had a really good stay. The pass for Sandbanks parking was an added bonus too.

The house was quaint and charming and close to Main Street, restaurants and shops. It had a beautiful outdoor area to enjoy coffee in the mornings and wine in the evenings. Would definitely stay again. Perfect place to explore the county.
