We had a wonderful last minute trip to Appenzell. It was beautiful and friendly town. As we visit midweek in September is was less crowded and more enjoyable. We really enjoyed strolling through town and visiting the near by Eberalp Lift and walk to the Aescher Inn. This is an absolutely precious town. Very quaint and cozy away from the city. You can walk all over the whole town admiring the traditional homes. Very quiet and laid back. It was the perfect location with beautiful views in every direction. It was the perfect place to end our last 2 days in Switzerland. Staff was very friendly and personable. The morning we left, we needed to leave before the regular breakfast time, but the chef got up early to prepare a very nice breakfast. The room was large, well decorated, had a huge bathroom, and our own personal balcony! But also, 7min walking distance to the city center. Lovely stay, very quite despite the closeness to the train station (you don't hear a thing).
