There were a couple good restaurants.
There were a couple good restaurants. We had a boat excursion to the glacier planned, but due to weather it was cancelled. We did a nice hike, the Alta-Vista trail instead. It’s a long way to travel to get to Villa O’Higgins, but it is the end or the beginning of the Austral trail, which we completed.

Great little town with nice people and amazing views.
Great little town with nice people and amazing views. I recommend going out on the hikes, especially doing the Condor Trail which gets you close to the majestic birds
We cooked at our host and got all we needed from the local supermarket. Groceries prices are high because all the products have to be flown from Coyhaique and there are very little fresh veggies available, but I didn't see this as an issue.

Villa O'Higgins is more than just reaching the end of the...
Villa O'Higgins is more than just reaching the end of the Carretera Austral. Staying a couple of days is highly recommended to do the following activities: 1. Visit the Mayer Border Crossing and Lake Christie; highly recommended. 2. Hike the trails in Villa O'Higgins itself (I didn't have time to do them).

It's a must-see for travelers aiming to reach the end of the Carretera Austral (7 km past the town), but the town itself lacks infrastructure in every sense. Mosco Municipal Park requires hiring a guide to hike the longer, more interesting trail (medium difficulty). It seems like a complete rip-off, not a genuine need.

A beautiful place with hiking trails and viewpoints. A visit to Lake O'Higgins is a must. The town is very welcoming to visitors, and the drive there is wonderful. It's worth spending about three days there.

By far the best part of the entire trip to the Carretera...
By far the best part of the entire trip to the Carretera Austral was the cabin, the best place we stayed. A beautiful and clean cabin, tastefully decorated, all wood, with good heating, soft and comfortable beds. We were very happy and well looked after. A WONDERFUL PLACE
