Amazing local hotel / homestay for a quick retreat. Location: slightly out of central town in Yangshou (5min drive). Personally this is exactly what we wanted, a mini retreat to relax. Several restaurants including a restaurant built into a cave right nearby. Rooms: we stayed in a mountain view king room which was awesome, 'instragrammable', spacious with big bathtub, adjustable AC, and projector tv. It was very clean and modern with top to bottom glass windows so you wake to a beautiful view of mountains. Staff: This isn't a chain or resort, so the service is more personable. You'll become acquainted with them in no time. Promptly responded to WeChat messages. Very friendly and extremely accommodating. We had a issue when we first checked in with some construction noise - which the staff immediately addressed and this was greatly appreciated. Food: 'Western' style restaurant serving comfort food which was good and honestly a nice pace chance having travelled china for several weeks now. Cafe: perhaps one of the highlights is the treehouse cafe on level 5 - which has stunning views and great coffee. Value: room was on the expensive side compared to other places we stayed in China, albiet we booked the most expensive room type. We definitely got what we paid for. Other: the pool was out of service during most of our stay but personally this isn't something we'd use anyway. they also assisted us to use the laundry which was great as laundries seem hard to find in mainland China. Throughout our time here, we only had to leave the hotel once really, to go watch the Impressions show. Everything else was well catered to by the hotel or it's near surroundings. Would strongly recommend staying here during your visit to Yangshou, especially if you're looking for a place to get some rest and recovery.

Everything was perfect. Starting with the ladies at the front desk. They were just amazing. They spoke English (which is rare in China, even at hotels), and they did everything possible to help us. We had a room upgrade and they let us have a late check out at 16h00. The hotel also has a restaurant with good western food at a good price. We ended up eating there everyday. The pool is also clean and very relaxing to be at. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

The hotel is located in a very beautiful part of Yangshuo, really charming with exceptional view of the river. We had a great time at the Sugar House. All of the staff were helpful and friendly, particularly Sarah, who went out of her way to help us in organizing driver and booking trips and activities that we wanted to go on. The restaurant is excellently decorated, food in both breakfast, and dinner is truly delicious. We had booked half board, the chef has provided us with different set menu each evening, showcasing Guangxi cuisine, and some dishes are exceptional. The redesign of a an old sugar factory as a hotel has been realized extremely well, bringing contemporary post modernist design to a beautiful setting in the Yangshuo landscape. Highly recommended as a place to stay for exploring the amazing Yangshuo landscape.

I only stayed for one night during my trip, wish I could have stayed longer. Beautifully situated hotel at the bank of the river, possible to take nice walks, possible to walk up to take a raft trip, bikes are available by the accommodation. Quiet place, excellent food, very friendly and helpful staff. Possible to sit outside and eat lunch/dinner/breakfast with a view on the river.

The location and views from the bedroom and balcony were amazing. Angel and all the staff helped us enjoy our stay by booking trips to make the most of the area. The hotel has the small electric scooters from hire (they look like mopeds but much slower more like lime scooters / so great for exploring this fantastic area. I have no hesitation in recommending this amazing stop with a lovely restaurant across the road for great food (ed had the best beer fish here).
