great breakfast--- both asian and western. we were able to start our hike with full bellies. The bed were very comfortable and spacious. when we arrived it was 0C and the heat worked great!

Stayed for 2 nights with my family of 6 adults. The house is super comfortable. Beds 10/10. Bathrooms are superb. Service is exceptional, Andrew went out of his way to help us with anything we needed. Breakfast beautifully served. Quiet surroundings. Simatai entrance easily accesible by taxi for 10 rmb/p/p, a 10 minute ride that the host will organize for you. Thank you for everything!

Great experience at this hotel, near Jinshanling/Gubeikou wall section. Host was kind and quick to respond to our requests online and was always ready to help us. They can help you book for a sunrise tour. They also offer pick-up/taxi service at a really fair price ! We dinned there at the evening, food was homemade and good. Rooms are simple yet clean. I recommend this hotel for its great location and amenities !

Auper beautiful place. Very clean rooms. Extremely friendly and polite owner. 3 very cute cats. We came very late and the owner still cooked for us an absolutely perfect dinner. We loved to stay there and will come back. To visit great wall there are various choices. We took a taxi to Simatai and went up by cable car. Then hiked down. An unforgetable experience.

the stay exceeded my expectations. both hosts are welcoming, enthusiastic, and down to earth. when we arrived, we discussed our travel plans with the hosts and they gave us plenty of helpful suggestions and even offered driving service. after exploring jinshanling the next day, the host picked us up, gave us a quick tour around gubeikou town, sharing the beauty and history of the town, then sent us to the train station. breakfast was authentic and delicious (loved the soy milk, 油炸饼, and 疙瘩汤). overall, this was a wonderful start to our beijing trip, with comfy place, thoughtful hosts, and beautiful surroundings. highly recommend staying here. 10/10.

We were extremely happy with our decision to stay at this lovely family-run accommodation. The hosts were exceptionally kind and helpful. We were welcomed with warm smiles and a basket of fresh fruit, and on the day of our departure—when we were running a little late—they even offered us a free ride to the bus station. Such genuine kindness truly made our stay special. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, cozy, and perfect for a good night’s sleep. The beds were very sturdy and comfortable. The whole place has a peaceful family-home atmosphere, and it’s clear that the owners take great pride in keeping everything clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The property is set in a quiet little village with a couple of nice family-run restaurants just a short walk away. It’s about a 20-minute walk to Beijing Wtown and the bus station along a quiet paved path by the river. The walk is lovely, with beautiful nature views, and there’s even a small riverside park with towers and sculptures that light up beautifully in the evenings—great for photos. If you prefer not to walk, there are plenty of Didi drivers available at any time, and the ride to the accommodation costs only 10–14 RMB. For travelers coming from Beijing, I highly recommend taking the direct bus, which costs 48 RMB per person and takes around two hours to reach the Water Town Bus Station (cash only). The bus leaves from Dongzhimen Outer Bus Station (东直门外) at 09:00 and 13:00, and returns from Water Town at 12:00 and 17:00. Just wait beside the brown signboard that lists all departure times. Beijing Wtown itself is absolutely stunning—full of canals, traditional architecture, small cafés, restaurants, and even boat rides that glide through the waterways, making the whole place feel like a fairytale village. In the evening, when the lights come on, the scenery becomes truly magical. At 20:40 there is a drone show with the illuminated Great Wall in the background, which is unforgettable.

I honestly loved everything there. It was such a lovely stay. Sue and Jack (the owners) are incredible friendly and so so helpful with everything. They picked me up from the trainstation and made me feel like home. They both cooked incredible good dinner and breakfast every day too. Organized for me to get to the great wall and picked me up again. It was very very nice and I will definitely come back one day!

Short walking distance to Gubei Watertown entrance. Nice & helpful owner. Great stay 😊
