Stunning spot right under the Avatar mountains – couldn't ask for a better location! The staff were legends, sorted our park passes and shuttle rides without a hitch. Massive pools perfect for a dip after a day of hiking, and the brekkie spread was top-notch with heaps of local options. Cheers for a cracking good experience – will definitely be back!

We arrived in China by train from Hong Kong. We came completely unprepared, without roaming, without Chinese yuan, without a hotel address in Chinese, without a route plan for the park. By some miracle, a local guy brought us from the train station to the hotel using GPS coordinates. At the hotel, we paid for our transfer, were treated to tea, bought tickets to the park, and were given a route plan. The staff didn't speak English, but we understood each other perfectly with the help of a translator. They helped us solve all our problems and plan our days in this area. They always found and brought us to the hotel by car, considering that we didn't have internet. In general, it was delightful! And the hotel itself was very comfortable. The view, cleanliness, style. Everything was superb!

Tucked just 300 meters from the South Gate of the National Forest Park, the location is unbeatable—we could reach the park entrance in a leisurely 5-minute stroll. The hosts went above and beyond: they prepared herbal foot baths after long hiking days, customized a vegetarian breakfast with local wild vegetable dumplings, and even arranged a private bilingual guide who revealed hidden viewpoints ahead of tourist crowds. The room seamlessly blended traditional Tusheng architecture with modern comforts (think heated floors and rainfall showers). What truly stood out was the proactive service—they contacted us pre-arrival to coordinate luggage storage and secured park tickets during peak season. If you seek authenticity over luxury, this family-run gem delivers soul-stirring moments you won’t find at chain hotels.

Wah, the location is super convenient, just walk to the forest park. The staff are really friendly, help us book tickets and plan route, no need to worry about anything. The pool is shiok after a whole day of walking, and the room very clean and comfy with nice view. Breakfast also not bad, got local options. Highly recommend for those who want a hassle-free trip. Definitely worth it!

Stayed at Peak&Cloud Retreat for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Bloody brilliant spot right by the national park entrance – saved us heaps of time queueing. The views from the room were unreal, especially at sunrise when the clouds rolled over the peaks. The staff were proper legends – so helpful with hiking tips and even sorted our park tickets. Room was spotless, and the brekkie had both Western and local options. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting Zhangjiajie. Cheers!

Could not rate the staff and the place highly enough. I had done research into how to navigate the Zhangjiajie National Park but was still confused until Jack gave us a route...which worked a breeze and resulted in us having a stress free day in the park. I cannot stress enough how staying at the western gate is the answer to not meeting the crowds of people. Highly recommend staying here. Thank to Jack who was so nice and helpful despite our language barrier.

This hotel is very good and cost-effective. It is run by Jack. Jack is very good and speaks good English. He tells us how to visit the national park, and he will drive us to breakfast early in the morning. I highly recommend this.
