We stayed here for about 10 days and used it as a base for diving, remote working, national parks (all dive centers are within a 10-minute walk). The town center is close (with good restaurants for such a small town), making it a great location overall. Laura (and her mom) were super attentive throughout our stay. She always made sure we were comfortable and helped us organize taxis to places like Minca and Tayrona at good prices. The breakfast was extraordinary — with quite a lot of variety. On most evenings, there’s also a chef cooking dinner on the property, and the food was also excellent. Our room was big and comfortable, with a small fold-out table that worked well for a bit of remote work. The bed was large and comfy, AC worked perfectly, and room service was good. Great value for money overall. Would definitely come back! :-)

A very nice terrace with a pool, amazing view of the sea and the whole village just from our bed. Powerful aircon, comfortable and big double bed. Shower is good too. WiFi works well. Breakfast is pretty nice, freshly cooked. Lunch and dinner menu is with very reasonable price. Friendly and helpful staff. They cannot speak any English so it would be helpful if you know some Spanish. Get a taxi right to the hotel door. The road is in very bad condition which is impossible to pull a suitcase so a car or a taxi is definitely needed.

I stayed 10 nights at the hostel and it was great. Female solo travelers, look no further! The Viña del Mar is located at the best corner of Taganga's beach, just one block away from Pachamama, one of the best restaurants in the village. I felt really safe walking by myself in this small area. As a digital nomad, I was working as usual and the wifi in my room was pretty OK. I worked a few times on the rooftop as well, but I think it wasn't the best spot for video conference calls. My room had a sea view, a small table, and two chairs. The balcony in the room is very spacious and, the air conditioning is efficient. The staff is super friendly, especially Andrea and Veronica, that are responsible for the restaurant in the morning and at night, respectively. Overall, street noise didn't bother me. On the weekends there are always some drunks talking and listening to music until late, but I could sleep without problems.

Trash is a noticeable issue in Taganga, Santa Marta, and the surrounding areas, which could use more attention. Still, it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area and manage your expectations.

It's a fishing village, so don't expect much luxury.

It's a fishing village, so don't expect much luxury. There are many scuba dive shops so I assume diving is an important activity in the area. The nearest beach is full of boats, with a section at the far end for swimmers. Water wasn't that clear. Tried to snorkel but didn't see many fish. You'll need a boat to get to the better beaches, for example the ones in Tayrona Park.

Beach area and main street along the lagoon trashy but looks beautiful from afar. Two restaurants nice, clean and relaxing others I would not consider. No shops to poke your head into that look inviting. 1 day as a pass through would be enough time but not as a destination. I stayed at Techos Azules overlooking lagoon area and a short walk to the beach/lagoon area which is ideal. If you stay in hostels I would not book the one (white building) located on the beachfront.

I loved the view from the window, the apartment was gorgeous...

I loved the view from the window, the apartment was gorgeous and clean. It had a breakfast bar, a fridge, excellent wifi. It was perfect for working and during the day I could walk to the beach and have lunch. The owner Jackie is wonderful and sweet. Anything that you need she helps with and even provided fresh coffee in the morning. Thanks for an amazing stay! The mountains and sunsets are beautiful!

Friendly people.. roads and beach not perfect but added to the charm.. good vibe to the place. No Starbucks or McDonald’s 😁😁😁 Scuba shops all over.. Recommend Reef Shepherds! Was good dive just in the bay, but think better in park.. didn’t go due to Vis!

I thought that staying out of Santa Marta would be quieter...

I thought that staying out of Santa Marta would be quieter but not so. There isn't a whole lot to do in Taganga. To get to Tayrona you have to go back to Santa Marta anyway, unless you get the boat from Taganga. A few days was enough. Babaganoush is a lovely restaurant - I only knew of it because a friend had told me.

Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Stuff were great. Place was peaceful and nice. Unfortunately the not so great part has to do with the town, not the hotel. It is a little far from the center which provides for the tranquil location, however to get there is a walk up a very rough dirt road. If you want to get up by taxi some will want to charge extra to ride up that super bad road. Nevertheless this will be offset by low room price. The hotel self is definitely enjoyable. All depends on what you prioritize.

Juan Carlos was a lovely tentative host. He speaks good enough English that we were able to converse. He allowed us to have a late check out as we were waiting for a flight and booked us a taxi to pick us up. Room was big and clean with fans and only a short walk to the beach. Wifi was good. Overall felt very welcomed and was nice to be in a family run hostel. Exceptional for what you pay

Casa Barca was such a lovely places for us, we could relax, walking everywhere and its really good located, close to the beach and to all the shops. Arturo is super helpful with everything, also offers good breakfast and diving classes. The view from our Room was amazing and we felt super comfortable. One of the best places we stayed during our trip!

Lovely, comfortable, clean room in quiet residential part of Taganga. Staff were great. Nice bar area to relax in. Breakfast great. Ate dinner there twice too, very good and great selection. Good value for money.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel is in a nice location near the beach. They helped us to store our luggage while we went to Tayrona park. It was clean and the breakfast was great (extra cost)
