This hotel among the forest is so beautiful! You stay in the middle of flowers, amazing trees, teaming with life: birds, monkeys, coatimundis...We really enjoyed walking the 1hr trail starting from the hotel. Restaurant and bar are very stylish and the view breathtaking. The bedrooms are very peaceful and comfortable with huge king size beds. We enjoyed the little wood souvenir we took home with us.

An unforgettable experience - 100% worth the money and one of those rare cases where the actual thing is as good as the pictures. The "tent" is more like a hotel room, with a TV, air con, and the comfiest bed I think I've ever slept in. You get to wake up to a view of the rainforest and your own hot tub, the outdoor shower is amazing, and they bring you a la carte breakfast every morning! We also loved little touches like the mini bar being included, and the present you get when you leave. 10/10 service, this was the highlight of our honeymoon.

Staff were very welcoming and knowledgable about surrounds and tours assisting us greatly with getting around and seeing what we had hoped to visit. Joselyn and Erica were so lovely and kitchen staff also very friendly and attentive. There was a resident sloth in the garden which was a treat. The grounds were maintained beautifully with many butterflies. Flowers in room which was also a special touch. Rooms were large and very comfortable. We loved our stay and felt very welcomed. Thank you.

Absolutely breathtaking! Our stay at Hotel Belmar was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the stunning landscape of Monteverde, this hotel boasts the most picturesque location imaginable. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious, offering a delightful taste of local cuisine. And oh, the view! Waking up to the breathtaking vistas from our terrace each morning was simply unforgettable. To top it all off, we even had the incredible experience of sharing breakfast with some curious monkeys. Hotel Belmar truly exceeded all expectations and made our time in Monteverde unforgettable. We can’t wait to return!

This apartment was incredible. The space and decor are beautiful. The view from the balcony is breathtaking, could have sat for hours watching the hummingbirds (and a telescope on the balcony) There is a little trail round the property with a sunset viewing platform.

A trip to Monteverde is one of the big ticks on the list for visitors to Costa Rica. Getting there is quite hard going on dreadful roads. Not ideal for anyone with any back or joint problems. It is a wet area so expect downpours and to feel damp at all times even when it is dry outside. The main reason to visit is to see the cloud forests and for zip lining, otherwise there isn’t much else to do in the area. Other attractions such as Ranali frog pond, the butterfly garden are poor and not worth the time or money. I stayed for 3 days and it was too long. My favourite thing overall was seeing the hummingbirds at Monteverde cloud forest - not in the forest itself, but in a cafe area just before the entrance to the cloud forest!

If you like cooler temperatures, rainy & windy mountains in...

If you like cooler temperatures, rainy & windy mountains in remote Costa Rica then this is for you. Its a unique experience to be that high up above sea level and theres plenty to do outside between coffee tours, ziplines & hikes. But in terms of the town itself, theres not a lot going on and its expensive but I guess thats what you pay for tranquility & remoteness. And if you're driving up there you better have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle because the majority of the roads up here are unpaved & windy AF. Spots to check out that made our trip: Don Juan Coffee Farm, the Butterfly Sanctuary, El Tigre Waterfalls, Kinkajou Night walk, 100% Aventura Ziplines for the longest Zipline in Latin America & lastly tree climbing at Finca Modelo. If you want to try authentic Costa Rican food (because hello why not!) skip out on the expensive restaurants and go to Pizzeria 3R y el Sazón de Mary - best part is that they're open late. Food was bomb! Overall, I wouldn't spend more than 2.5 days up here.

4-wheel drive recommended, but not essential. My six-year old particularly enjoyed the animal experiences: sloths, frogs, snakes and butterflies at the Selvatura Adventure Park (which was expensive but worth it - very knowledgeable guides) and also the Bat Jungle. My favourite experience was walking the trails in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve - very well marked and options for different levels of ability.

Loved the adventure parks (selvatura sloth rescue is a must!

Loved the adventure parks (selvatura sloth rescue is a must!) and area restaurants Bon appetit and taco taco. Chocolate and coffee tour also worthwhile. Night tours more insect and reptile focused than in other areas. Roads in the area are very narrow and twisty, hard for motion sickness travellers.

Great place for hikers.

Great place for hikers. Unfortunately most places you have to pay to enter and it's not cheap. But there are a few free places you can walk if you do your research. There is loads of stuff to do for everyone. Families and adventure junkies.

If you love the outdoors, go to Monteverde.

If you love the outdoors, go to Monteverde. We did a coffee/sugarcane/chocolate tour, a wildlife refuge tour, night time nature walk, zip lining, and a sloth experience. There were lots of different restaurants and we loved all of the ones we visited.

Everything was good here. I spent 3 nights around Monteverde and changed of hotel everynight because the two first places where not good. I finally ended up here. My only regret is that I haven't chosen this place since the first day. For about 30$ you get a quite and spacious clean room with a great hot shower and a good breakfast. Owners are very friendly and ready to help !

Located 5 minutes drive from the entrance to Monteverde Cloud Forest and 10 minutes to Santa Elena. Lovely green and lush surroundings. If you wish to stay in the nature, this is the right property to choose. We even saw toucans, hummingbirds, monkeys and brocket deer. Friendly staff. Overall it was a pleasant short stay!

Lovely property with very helpful staff just a few minutes walk into the main part of town. We organised a Cloud Forest tour through the hotel which was excellent. The breakfast was very good and the room very well presented clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend if wanted to stay in Monteverde.
