Overall, the hotel is pretty great and the owners are lovely. It's very quiet, the rooms are nice and the beds firm. The owners cook their own meals at the restaurant, it takes some time but it's very tasty. For the money you pay (which is half the price of most villas in the vicinity) it's a steal. Right on the beach, close to the main road and a bunch of places to eat. The pool is large, bigger than most tiny hotel pools, and is cleaned regularly. Rooms are also cleaned a few times a week. There are howler monkeys living in the trees right next to the hotel.

I had the best time here!!! The apartments are so beautiful and you feel at home as soon as you enter it. It’s made with much love and has a beautiful design. The location is of course a bit off but you have 2 restaurants in walking distance and so many nice beaches around. Out of all my accommodations I had in CR this was my favorite. Also the owner is just the best person ever! Such a warmhearted, funny woman, always there to help if you need anything! :))

Hotel Hibiscus is a great place to stay! Even if the rooms are very simple, the keyfactors match totally. Very comfortable and super clean bed, great internet which offers you wifi at the beach, super well working Airconditioner and Van, and a big fridge. Christian, the owner, is super friendly and helpful and you have just 50steps to the beach!

We were fascinated by the whole hotel complex. The rooms, reception and kitchen are designed with style and creativity. The pool is a perfect place to chill at any time of the day and kind of magic. There is a fireplace for the guests in front of the hotel which makes evenings even more cozy. The personal is very friendly. The neighborhood is a quiet one. There is a beach bar and several places to eat not far away from the hotel (20 - 30 min walk or 5 min to drive). The beach (playa negra) is not overrun and we like it due to its relaxed atmosphere.

Very nice and accessible beach.

Very nice and accessible beach. Any kind of vehicle can get there easily. You don't need 4WD transportation. Beach is still very natural and unspoiled and I hope it remains that way for long time. No large hotels or multi-story apartments ... just natural beach landscape. Residents have implemented a sea turtle protection program as some of these lovely creatures get there to lay their eggs during specific times of the year.

We loved the quiet area, and the beach; walked everywhere,...

We loved the quiet area, and the beach; walked everywhere, didn't need a car. Food was great at many local restaurants, including Guacamaya, Tata's (breakfast), Tatanka's, Mundo Milo and the Tides. Kayaked in the mangroves and visited the local turtle sanctuary.
