To say this place is special is an understatement, it is a phenomenal experience to stay here and hard to put into words why. The lodges are set in the middle of the forest with no lodge in sight of another. Literally feet from our veranda we had a family of monkeys swinging in the trees. There are dozens of species of birds just around you. It has been created so that the natural environment hasn’t been disturbed in anyway. The 3 course dinner served was probably the best we have had in our 4 weeks in CR and all for $24. Our tour guide Juan was brilliant, so knowledgeable and interesting. It was the best night tour we have done, way better than Monteverde. The staff are so professional and attentive too.

The property was absolutely beautiful, the sunrises make it worthwhile on their own. Great for birdwatching and just winding down. The staff are incredibly friendly and do their best to help whenever asked. Fantastic atmosphere at Gitana. We loved our time here and could happily have stayed for longer. We made the most of the private beach, chilled in the garden, and the food at the restaurant was delicious (and we loved spending time with the owners' dogs!). Being able to access tours from the hotel made day trips out seamless as well as the help we received in getting to and from Drake Bay via the boat taxi! We hope to have a chance to come back in the future!

Finca Sueno del Oso is the closest you will get to a genuine jungle adventure without going on a real expedition. Felipe owns a large part of the jungle, and with his family he has made several trails available for his guests. There is plenty to discover for several days at all abilities, easier to hard. Felipe and/or his wife and adult son accompanies you to make sure you are safe, you have the option to explore on your own too. The trails are full of life and jaw-dropping nature, and give you the opportunity to experience the real rainforest. We were so lucky to be accompanied by Felipes wife and son, who we felt were very genuine and warm. The son is very knowledgeable about the faulage and animals of the forest, and shared his knowledge in a very natural way. Our teenage sons especially enjoyed the company and were very excited on the trails, but we all had a fantasticly enjoyable adventure. At the house the food was very good and always homemade of natural ingredients from the surrounding compound and forest. We highly recommend a stay at Finca Sueno del Oso, especially if you want a real natural experience away from the more commercial Costa Rica. Its an extra bonus that it turned out much cheaper than having to go on the commercial tours in Corcovado.
