This is the perfect place to stay if you want to get to know the real Sal and its people. The owners went above and beyond to make me feel not only welcome, but truly at home. The room was super comfy, and the food was always delicious (be sure to try one of Candida's secret recipes for dinner, if you get the chance). I was provided with all the help and advice I needed in order to explore the island, and Candida and Martin personally took me to places that only local people know about. If, like me, you prefer a quiet, remote beach over those crowed, touristy ones: there's a small one just a short bicycle ride away – although I usually opted for a walk through to beautiful steppe landscape to get there. If you prefer spending your days with the other tourists down in the south of the island: Santa Maria beach is only 20 minutes by bus – which may sound complicated at first, but is actually super fun and convenient (and it only costs 1 Euro). I could go on praising this place for two weeks (which is actually the amount of time I stayed), but I'll just stop here – not without saying: Thank you, Candida & Martin, for the wonderful time at kleine schweiz! We stayed in Espargos for one night, and our host, Anísio, is truly one of the best people on this earth — kind, lovely, and always ready to help. Words can’t quite capture how wonderful he is! The apartment is perfect: spotless, modern, and very well located — close to the centre yet in a peaceful area. The bed is super comfortable, and everything is impeccably clean. Very well located, friendly host. For me, it's 10/10. I had a late arrival, the host was great for his welcome. She was waiting for me to give me the keys. The apartment is superb, very clean with all the necessary comfort, quiet, not far from the city centre and not far from the airport. The quality/price ratio is excellent. For my next stay on the island of Sal, I will go back there with pleasure if it is available.

I go to Sal sometimes and it's one of the best if not the best place i stayed in Espargos! Clean and comfortable space. Quiet place and you have lots of restaurants, bars, etc around the area...you can go by walking and it's near! Really good host as well!

Close to the airport and convinient if you need to wait for the plane or you landed in the middel of the night and are waiting for the next flight or the ferry. You can easily catch the taxi from the street nearby to the SID Airport for 5 EUR (500 Escudos) or to the Palmeira port for 7 EUR (700 Escudos) - as of 11.2025.

Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal.

Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal. Very close to the airport. Especially nice experience for me was Pedra de Lume. There are nice and helpful people everywhere. I will certainly come back. Please note that this is not a beach or resort type of holiday like in Santa Maria.

Espargos is a good place to stay to reach the Blue Eye Cave,...

Espargos is a good place to stay to reach the Blue Eye Cave, Shark Bay and Pedro da Lume, but I thought it would be cheaper to get to those places by taxi. Overall not much to do in the city itself, but I didnt want to miss the island’s capital. Not as touristy as Santa Maria, you can stroll the streets without being bothered, I felt safe, very friendly propeople as everywhere on Sal .
