Large ultra clean perfectly sized room in an original old building in the centre of this beautiful town. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Excellent huge breakfast, restaurant serves interesting menu in an atmospheric superb wood panelled room with great service. Very cosy bar. Great hotel all round, but the outstanding feature was the friendliness of all the staff we met. Thanks

Nice skiing region! The small town itself is also pretty and worth to visit. You can have a nice cheap breakfast downstairs in the corner. I highly recommend to avoid rupturing your ligaments during skiing!🤣

We liked that everything was in walking distance.

We liked that everything was in walking distance. Plenty of restaurants, bakeries, ice cream / coffee shops, small town shopping facilities, museums, traditional crafts, twice a week farmers markets, theatre, street music, the famous Kate carnival was on whilst we were there. The town is lovely restored and has a lot of small town charm. You would have to plan your trip very well if you relay on public transport to explore the hinterland. It is doable but not too easy to get around the area without a car. A lot of things to do at the doorstep of Annaberg. Hiking, museums, Dresden or Prag would be a 2 hrs drive; you find certainly something to do for everyone of every age.

The quaintness, the genuine friendliness of the people +...

The quaintness, the genuine friendliness of the people + everyone was so helpful despite a language barrier. It was so relaxed everywhere, be the market square, cafes, retail stores, etc. We probably had at least a dozen instances of people extending a courtesy or assistance to us with something over our seven day stay. The only downside was the awful construction going on at the train station and the only alternative to exiting and accessing the town is climbing a horribly steep gravel path + we arrived at dark and couldn’t even see the path because there was no lighting. However, a very kind German gentleman assisted us and half/way up the hill went and got his personal car and took us to the hotel.

The city and its surroundings have much more to offer than...

The city and its surroundings have much more to offer than you might expect. Five days weren't enough for us; we could easily have filled two weeks. The density of restaurants outside the city can be quite low, so you have to do a bit of searching if you want to feed a family.

I was in Annaberg-Buchholz for a seminar over the weekend.

I was in Annaberg-Buchholz for a seminar over the weekend. I didn't see much of the town; the shops were closed from Saturday afternoon onwards. The Christmas market there starts on November 28th, 2025. It's supposed to be one of the most beautiful in Germany.

If you're a bit older, you should know that the road is constantly steep uphill and downhill. Otherwise, Annaberg is a really pretty little town. There's plenty to see. We ate several times at the "Zum Türmer" restaurant opposite the church. The food was exceptionally good, the service very friendly, reservations are recommended as it's always busy.

Received a quiet room as requested. Heating was on in the bathroom and the holiday lights were on timer, thoughtful touches. Location of hotel and room size were nice. Would stay again.
