FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

Cairo is a wonderful and fascinating city.

Cairo is a wonderful and fascinating city. It is very safe to walk around - little to no petty crime. The people are wonderful once you get used to the aggressiveness of some vendors. (Just smile and say "no" and keep your smile - they can be persistent but I just joke with them) Look up info on the city before you go - I found "Gventures" on YouTube entertaining and informative.

Cairo is not for solo travelers who wants to make DIY. If your solo you better booked tour and everything should be handled, though its a bet pricy but comfort and hassle free on travel is the best should be. Cairo is not for the weak be tough there💪

Interesting history. Very good museums.

Interesting history. Very good museums. World heritage sights. The city it selv, is huge, dusty, chaotic, traffic is horrific, and there are just someone who wants to sell you something everywhere, and they ruin all good for all the other Egyptians.

Spend a day or two visiting the pyramids, sphinx, museums...

Spend a day or two visiting the pyramids, sphinx, museums and citadel then go to other tourist sites. I hated the fact that just speaking to someone they ask for tips. That left a very bad taste in my mouth. Can't enjoy going into any stores as it seems their only objective is TIPS, TIPS, TIPS. Wont recommend anyone going there.

The Nile River and spots around it are beautiful and fun.

The Nile River and spots around it are beautiful and fun. Definitely recommend a cruise. You can take one that fits your budget. Historic places are wonderful. Most visit some museums. There is a wide variety of restaurants that are easy to get to. Getting around the city by taxi isn't hard, given the population. Definitely the Nile. Museums, the pyramids.

Cairo is HUGE and very busy with LOTS of people! The locals are very friendly and know you are a tourist! There is sooooo much to see and explore. I will be back!! If you are an American, take lots of $1 and $5 to use for tips at sites. They are happy to take USD!

The hotel is located in a relatively quiet area compared to the rest of the town. The staff was amazing, and this was some of the best service I have ever received. Thank you for the hospitality (excellent breakfast, restaurant recommendations, moneyexchange...). There are several local restaurants close by, within a 10-15 minute walking distance. Not once was I bothered by anyone trying to take advantage of me as a tourist. Ontime pick-up from and drop-off at the airport were arranged by them as well (extra fee).

Fantastic view from the top. The staff are very helpful, they organized all trips we wanted. A half day trip is 30 dollars + tip. Surprisingly good breakfast at the top. Airport shuttle for 20 dollars. The best if you pay Egyptian pound, and change your euro on the black market. 1 euro in the hotel 33 is EGP while on the black market (black market=any shop) 50 EGP.

super nice place in Egypt. The best accommodation during my 16-day trip! It was a little oasis in Cairo. A beautifully remodeled place with an authentic local vibe — absolutely charming. The location is perfect as well. there's super nice staff too. If I visit Cairo again, I would definitely stay here instead of a five-star hotel.

This is the best hotel in the building and in the area. Excellent service, strategic location, and close to all of Egypt's landmarks. The metro is only one minute away. Karam El Sham and Abu Mazen restaurants, two of the most luxurious restaurants, are also near the hotel.
