FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

Cairo is a very intense and chaotic place.

Cairo is a very intense and chaotic place. We spent one day exploring Giza area and another day exploring Old Cairo. The pyramids were amazing, from Giza to Saqqara. Old Cairo is very cool in its own way, but honestly I would have preferred to cut my stay by 1 day to add an extra day in Luxor. Unfortunately, I got to the city when the GEM was closed so I didn't get to see it. Cairo museum was good but a bit run down.

NOT recommended. The worst city I've seen so far.

NOT recommended. The worst city I've seen so far. Dirty, noisy, messy. ugly. Everything is broken. Traffic is a permanent screaming chaos. Dust in the air makes you cough the day you arrive. Car horns at night keep you awake. Not a single finished house in sight.

Well the ancient civilization is defiantly something to see and visiting the Pyramids with the circular hop on and off bus really makes the visit easy. Tours are cheap and expertly managed and generally no problem in using English. The big problem area is money exchange and ATMs. If your in a 5 star hotel changing money is not difficult. The difficulties come with ATM that only use 4 digit PIN numbers. My PIN has 6 digits and did not work. Also USD are accepted but other currencies are difficult to exchange. For a No 1 tourist venue this is surprising.

Cairo is a wonderful and fascinating city.

Cairo is a wonderful and fascinating city. It is very safe to walk around - little to no petty crime. The people are wonderful once you get used to the aggressiveness of some vendors. (Just smile and say "no" and keep your smile - they can be persistent but I just joke with them) Look up info on the city before you go - I found "Gventures" on YouTube entertaining and informative.

Cairo is not for solo travelers who wants to make DIY. If your solo you better booked tour and everything should be handled, though its a bet pricy but comfort and hassle free on travel is the best should be. Cairo is not for the weak be tough there💪

Our last night in Egypt was spent in this hotel after a full bore "trains, boats and automobiles" tour of Egypt. After a hectic 6 days, it was the ultimate pleasure to stretch out on a sunbed and relax. The Buffet breakfast was an international feast, the best meal for a week. Staff throughout were courteous, attentive and efficient. bizarrely drinks whilst expensive were cheaper than the Novotel next door (an old haunt). The airport shuttle out was timely on departure and quick to get to our terminal.

The kindness and the heart that meets you at Kempinski on Nile is unmatched. You feel like a member of a big family that genuinely cares for you. Everyone is highly professional. If you travel alone you don’t need to worry about anything as the Concierge team will look out for your safety and your best. Housekeeping, room service, butler service all superb. Finally Ladies in Red gracefully follow up the totality of your stay and comfort. I am deeply grateful to everyone at the hotel.

Location (shopping practically inside the hotel, variety of restaurants in the hotel and close to the airport). For a one-day stay, on the way back from a tour of Egypt, it is a good option. The lobby decoration is very beautiful and the staff service is very good. The hotel areas were clean and the pool was very beautiful. My room was large and had a good balcony with a view of the pool.

The room and bed were comfortable, and we were able to get a good night sleep. Pyramids were within 30 minutes walking distance. Breakfast was the best out of all hotels stayed in egypt, except one 5 star in alexander. Staff were super friendly, and hospitality was 5 stars, felt welcomed, and very much enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend staying at the Taj Pyramids View INN.
