FAQs about hotels in Sharm El Sheikh

Year-round Sun & Fun

Set against the backdrop of desert and mountains, Sharm el Sheikh is a year-round Red Sea diving and beach resort. Although based on an existing village, it is very much a purpose-built holiday town, with lots of international brands of hotel, restaurant and bar lining its sandy shores.

The oldest part surrounds the Old Market, a heady mix of shisha and spices, roughly in the middle of the Naama Bay and Um el Sid suburbs. The other Sharm districts of Shark’s Bay and Nabq Bay are along the coast by Sharm el Sheikh Airport.

The Red Sea offers some of the world’s best dive spots with rich underwater life on the deep reefs of the amazing Ras Mohammed National Park. Other watersports include windsurfing, kayaking or banana boating, and the Cleopark waterpark has flumes, pools and rapids.

Other things to do include shopping at Il Mercato mall and the many souvenir stalls, karting at Ghibli Raceway, or watching a show at the Arabian-styled Alf Leila Wa Leila. Outside town you can go horse or camel riding in the desert, and visit a Bedouin village or St Catherine’s Monastery in the Sinai peninsula hills.

The Sharm el Sheikh accommodation on Booking.com covers everything from 5-star holiday resorts to all-inclusive hotels with pools, and cheap apartments.

One of the most value for money trips you can have, one week is a great option for you in order to explore the attractions and to relax. Give yourself two or three days to relax and enjoy your hotel facilities and afterwards you have to explore Naama Bay, Farsha Cafe and anything else you desire.

If you get out on a boat or find a good beach the sealife is amazing. Our hotel had a very shallow beach but even then, we could still see a great variety of fish from the pier. I felt safe and was happy in the town

Sharm El Sheikh is a beautiful place with friendly and welcoming locals. However, be cautious when shopping — many local shop owners tend to overcharge tourists. For example, we bought something from a pharmacy that cost almost five times more than the normal price in our country. Always check prices beforehand and negotiate firmly, especially in shops, taxis, or anywhere prices aren’t clearly displayed. Apart from that, it’s a lovely destination if you stay alert and avoid tourist traps.

Sharm El Sheikh is a purpose-built resort city on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Its primary draw is its world-class access to the Red Sea, offering some of the planet's best scuba diving and snorkeling right from its shores. On land, it's a sun-soaked haven of luxurious all-inclusive resorts, bustling promenades, and dramatic desert landscapes. It's not a place for authentic Egyptian culture, but rather a fantastic, convenient, and often affordable base for a sun-and-sea holiday. Resorts and the city itself feel very safe, with a noticeable security presence at hotel entrances and key public areas.

When talking about Sharm El Sheikh, we must never forget...

When talking about Sharm El Sheikh, we must never forget that we are talking about AFRICA. Although it is cleaner than Hurghada, it is very dirty, most of the beaches are made of sand and not yellow sand, everything has to be negotiated, certain products have higher prices than in Europe, they think Europeans are rich and ask fortunes for worthless objects, an espresso costs 2.5 euros, cigarettes can cost anywhere from €1.50 to €4, a taxi ride for a distance of 2km costs €5, after negotiating you'll pay €1, just to give you an idea, gasoline there costs 70 cents, it is a fantastic destination for divers, absolutely fantastic the marine life, although they do not preserve the greatest wealth, which are the corals, they are very destroyed, for divers it is a must destination, for other tourists I don't think it's the best. Hygiene is a serious problem, medical care is deficient, taking young children or elderly people with chronic illnesses can be a huge problem if something goes wrong, taking babies is crazy and shows a lack of love for a child.

I likes everything about Sharm El Sheikh i really enjoyed what did annoyed me was the shopkeepers I did buy a bag at fixed price of £55 but I used my card the following day the shopkeeper took £60 out of my account also some of the clubs you have to be careful they serve you cheap drinks then put service charge on which can be expensive than the drinks also if the barman shows no menu of cocktails that’s when you can get ripped off apart from that I really enjoyed the holiday my apartment I stayed in was lovely I’d go back again

The rooms were stunning with beautiful decor, fresh, clean and amazing views to the pools. There are couple of hot pools for winter which was lovely. The staff were absolutely amazing, very welcoming and helpful throughout! Food was lovely as part of all inclusive and it was quite lovely to have an adult only hotel, for a quiet and relaxing break. Great location, near a row of shops and about 25 mins taxi to Naama bay and 20 mins to old market.

Very spacious one bedroom flat. We liked being so close to the old city, fruit/veg market, Old Town, etc. Beach at the end of the road, 4$/day, walkable. It's a great alternative to hotels/all inclusive. Few hiccups with the communication due to language barrier, but ironed out smoothly. Thank you Simona! We suggest get everything in place before you arrive. The flat is very nicely decorated and has all a couple or family needs.

We expected that the Egyptian 5 stars are relative! It was so. Advice for everyone: it's enough to pay attention to the hotel's rating and services, the stars mean little beyond that. It wasn't a bad hotel, but nothing special, maybe the nice pools can be highlighted.

Beautiful place, the friendliest staff. Great selection of food. Lovely private beach in the hotel. I would suggest booking All inclusive, as its better value for money. If you want luxury in Sharm el Sheik with a 5 star service, I would fully recommend.
