The hotel is in an ancient house, renewed but keeping 100% the flavour of a XVI century noble house. Perfectly located near the mines and close to the village center. Sleeping in the house gives you the sensation of living true history! The facilities are suberb and the owner an expert in Spanish history of the time. Amazing experience! I recommend it 100%

We had a twin room with a large bathroom, both very clean and comfortable, with ceiling fans and central air. The huge shared kitchen contains everything you could want for cooking, as well as a six seat dining table. The lounge is also large, with couches, coffee table and large TV. There is also an enclosed courtyard out from the dining area, but it is not furnished. No one else was staying there, so we had the whole house to use. It's located in the middle of town so you can walk to everything. A public car park is one street back. Almaden has some great cafes and bars, and everyone was very friendly.

We really appreciated how Cristina managed the language barrier. We are a family of four, English speakers from New Zealand, with no Spanish and it was our first night in Spain. Cristina made everything simple for us on arrival, and cooked us an excellent breakfast the following morning The rooms and beds were very clean and comfortable and beautifully furnished.

Almadén is a town that surprises visitors with its historical importance, largely unknown to most. Many of its monuments and buildings played a pivotal role in Spanish history. Furthermore, the friendliness and warmth of its people, and its generous and delicious cuisine, are noteworthy.

An undiscovered gem with a unique heritage, the mines and the bullring are remarkably original in their design, despite not being used for bullfighting at all. It borders other interesting places to visit and boasts a stunning landscape.

Almaden doesn't have too many things to see; you can easily see it all in a day. Don't miss the mine and the bullring, as well as the nearby landscapes and sites. The best thing about Almaden used to be the ice cream at Heladería Los Valencianos, but it's not what it used to be.

It's a town with a rich mining history, and now that it's open to the public, it's a highly recommended family outing. Surrounded by mountains, it's a very peaceful spot, ideal for a weekend getaway. The Almadén mine is spectacular; we learned a lot about mining techniques and thoroughly enjoyed the visit, which wasn't expensive at all.

The town isn't spectacularly beautiful, but it's very pleasant and has some nice things to see, like the bullring. The highlight is a visit to the mercury mine—a must-see and unique experience. The natural surroundings are gorgeous. The people are very friendly. There aren't many places to go out for drinks at night, but eating lunch and dinner is inexpensive and the food is excellent. The region is worth a visit.

The hotel is situated in a lovely old building with many charming features - we immediately felt relaxed upon entering. It had a very serene atmosphere. The location was ideal for walking around the town. We had dinner at the hotel and sat on their upper terrace, which was an excellent location, with a lovely view. The dinner was wonderful. Breakfast was simple; bread with jam or the traditional Spanish chopped tomato spread, coffee, juice, a selection of fruits and a small packet of cakes.

This was a truly exceptional experience. The owner, José Antonio, went far beyond what is usual to help us, and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel itself is like a museum, with something exciting to see at every turn. José Antonio is the most courtly, polite, and knowledgeable gentleman, with such excellent conversation skills. His breakfast is pretty good, too.🍏🍐🥐🥖☕️🧈🧀 If we're in that area again, we'll definitely re-visit. 🌹

Based on others’ reviews we chose Hotel Gema for our one night stopover. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and warm. Big bathroom too. The reception and restaurant (in the lower ground floor - take the lift) staff were very helpful and friendly. The night we stayed was Carnival so we had a lively introduction to the village of Almadén. Would recommend Hotel Gema.
