Almaden is a mining town, has some lovely features , we wanted to go down the mines but the web info is not specifuc, there are only two entry times 10.30 and 3.30 if you miss these by even five min you cannot visit , .Still worth a visit to the town .

The hotel is situated in a lovely old building with many charming features - we immediately felt relaxed upon entering. It had a very serene atmosphere. The location was ideal for walking around the town. We had dinner at the hotel and sat on their upper terrace, which was an excellent location, with a lovely view. The dinner was wonderful. Breakfast was simple; bread with jam or the traditional Spanish chopped tomato spread, coffee, juice, a selection of fruits and a small packet of cakes.

Staying in one of the oldest buildings of Almadén certainly is an experience, sleeping in a monumental room where history is all around you! If you come by car, drive up the street until the little church at the end and park on the square next to it, only a hundred meter walk to the hotel. And from the hotel it's only a ten minute walk downhill to the worldheritage-mines for a tour; at the same church go right, then left twice and you're there.

Based on others’ reviews we chose Hotel Gema for our one night stopover. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and warm. Big bathroom too. The reception and restaurant (in the lower ground floor - take the lift) staff were very helpful and friendly. The night we stayed was Carnival so we had a lively introduction to the village of Almadén. Would recommend Hotel Gema.

The hotel was easy to find and in a good location with easy walking access to the city. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was a decent size, well equipped and clean. The breakfast was alright. Overall a good experience.

The hotel was fine for one night. Peace and quiet, beds quite comfortable, nice garden with palm trees. The owner was friendly but did not speak English.
