A very rural location, the gentleman that greeted us, spoke little english and us little spanish, our smartphones solved that issue, it was out of season but we needed an overnight stop and it's location suited us well , plus we were travelling with a dog and it was made welcome

What an amazing stay in a stunning location. To us, this is a real jewel. From the start the communication and helpfulness of everyone was exceptional. Thank you. The accommodation is down a flight of steps, a stone throw away from the impressive Castle of Villena and this was very magical. The vast accommodation has 3 levels. On the ground floor you have open plan living areas, the swimming pool and one bathroom. We spent a lot of time chatting around the large kitchen table and having drinks by the pool. We would have loved to try out the pool, but it was too cold as it was January. The first floor has 4 bedrooms and 3 other bathrooms, one of which is an en suite, and we found this fantastic. The top floor houses the Sauna, a quiet seating area and the rooftop terrace. We loved the Sauna, this was an added bonus and a real treat. The rooftop terrace is a wonderful added bonus too. We spent time their chatting as we enjoyed the views. We even had a BBQ and must thank Lorenzo for the coals and the lighters, it was superb. If you are looking for a totally unique stay, close to a castle, and want to embrace the culture, this is a fabulous stay. Huge thanks to Lorenzo and his team.

Biar is extremely hilly so if you have trouble getting about it's not for you. Having said that there are plenty of seats/benches around which we took advantage of especially on the climb back from dinner each evening. Restaurants are limited as most only open Friday to Sunday night but if you like tapas there are a few bars and the food was excellent. The supermarkets were lovely, everything fresh and one in particular was like an old fashioned store with individual counters for bread, meat, cheese and veg. The prices were amazing compared the UK. As it isn't touristy it tested our Spanish, I think you would struggle if you didn't have at least the basics of the language. We were glad we didn't have a car as the roads seemed to be a bit tricky and quite narrow in places, one day there was a festival honouring transport and we were told the locals all drive the wrong way around the town!! The castle and museum were worth a visit and only 1 euro each to enter.

Biar is a place for fit people: places of interest and the Castle are situated on different levels of the mountain, so all the time you walk either up or down most of the time along staircases in beautiful streets. Lunch at "La Fasana" on Plaza de La Constitucion was excellent. Hiking around Biar is extraordinary!

A very interesting place to visit. A wonderful Ethnographic Museum. Its streets, and especially its cleanliness. Its people are very friendly and eager to talk about their town, of which they are very proud, and with good reason. We will return.

The town is beautiful, clean, with great restaurants and bars. The surroundings are lovely and culturally rich. Don't hesitate to visit the Castle, the Sanctuary, and take a stroll through the charming, well-maintained streets. I recommend a visit to Mentireta in the Raval, lunch or dinner at El Carajo, and an idyllic dinner at Façana with views of the Church.

Casa Rural appartment had excellent location right beside the historical castle in heart of old town. Parking was easy, free and appeared to be safe at the castle parking. The appartment was very nice, spacious and with very genuine historical touch. I truly loved the old interiors. Good basic equipment such as washing machine. Grill and sitting area at the patio was nice too! Biar is truly a gem, lovely old town.
