Montijo is a peaceful and welcoming place with a very family-friendly atmosphere. Its town center is pleasant for strolling, the people are friendly, and the food is good. It's not a major tourist destination, but precisely for that reason, it's a pleasant place to relax and unwind.

It has Roman ruins, very close to Medellín and Mérida, as well as Badajoz. The food is excellent and very cheap compared to Madrid. The people are very friendly and always smiling. The restaurant at the Gran Sol de Extremadura hotel is spectacular; I especially liked their cod with straw potatoes and the foie gras with cheese, as well as all the staff at the bar and in the dining room.

There wasn't enough time to see the town, so we'll be back...

There wasn't enough time to see the town, so we'll be back when we have more time. The Gran Sol de Extremadura hotel is ideal if you're traveling along the Silver Route (Vía de la Plata). It doesn't disappoint. The staff, and Patricia in particular, are friendly and professional.

It was a place we stopped over. Everything was great. The breakfasts were very generous and delicious. They have a daily menu. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were very clean, and the bathroom was spotless.

It's a purely agricultural town, without large industries or...

It's a purely agricultural town, without large industries or grand monuments (like Mérida). That's why, when you go out into town and have a drink in the square, you can truly appreciate the essence of the people. Many of its streets retain their traditional architecture; only the cars parked for the latest model remind you that it's 2022.
