Quality of the rooms and overall standard of the hotel are superb. Spacious room, luxurious shower, sweet and sophisticated mixture of modernity and history. It is also a landmark hotel, and not only due to Hemingway, it is really unique. Especially great is the staff: reception, cleaning ladies, -- real professionals and very-very friendly.

Bulls, Pintxos and Medieval Beauty

Famous for the San Fermin Festival, the beautiful city of Pamplona is the capital of Navarre in Spain. Crossed by the Arga River, this inviting city features green parks, a charming old quarter and modern neighbourhoods.

Home to important historic churches like the Gothic Pamplona Cathedral, the San Lorenzo Church, the San Saturnino and the San Nicolás Church, Pamplona has stunning architecture. Surrounded by a wonderful park, the fortress of Ciudadala has a pentagonal shape and hosts cultural events.

The Plaza del Castillo is the city’s main square and a perfect place to enjoy fine wine in one of the outdoor terraces or visit the café, where Ernest Hemingway used to relax.

The ‘Running of the Bulls’ is a summer fiesta taking place in July, where contrary to the bullfights visitors from all over the world run through the streets of the old town in front of six bulls.

Situated about 7 km away from the city centre, Pamplona Airport is reachable by bus and has flights to Barcelona and Madrid. Booking.com will help you find the right hotel, apartment, guest house or hostel in the lovely city of Pamplona.

The old part of town is smallish, but fabulous food and drink in a never ending series of tapas bars. Nice old market. We hit on the festival of Sant Fermin, which was a great spectacle. Easy to walk, busses were good, reasonable night bus service. Visitor friendly Camino town. Scenery outside Pamplona in Navarra is superb.

Pamplona is a beautiful old town but in can be done in a day . One or two nights is sufficient unless you have a car to be able to visit surroundings or you are there during the festival . However, hotel prices are likely to be sky high during the running of the bulls The Navarra museum was almost completely closed. Only a few rooms were open Excellent laundrettes in the town

Pamplona is a well kept secret - so much more to offer than evading the jeopardy of a stampeding bull run! The historic centre has all the charm and architectural interest you'd find in Italy or neighbouring France - with a food scene to match. We enjoyed the best pintxos of our trip of the Basque region in the cobbled streets of Pamplona at Bar Amatxo - even compared with the more 'gastronimic' San Sebastian. I don't think you could go too far wrong in any of the restaurants or bars, but the experience at Katuzarra was sublime - probably the finest beef flllet I've ever tasted.

Pamplona is a wonderful, vibrant city which we found to be far beyond our expectations. The beautiful buildings, wide boulevards, shopping areas, and the restaurants, tapas bars and general atmosphere in the old town, the young people (especially when seated and chatting in the streets, and the absolutely magnificent cathedral all make it a city we look forward to visiting again, and which we could recommend to any traveler.
