This beautiful boutique hotel is a true gem - hidden in an only seemingly small cottage in a tiny village at the end of the world (or at least the end of Spain), This area few kilometers from the border with Portugal is amazing and begs to be explored - ancient megalithic sites, ruins of Roman conquest and hot spring baths and beautiful tall mountains - and this lovingly restored and kept hotel is the perfect base. The restaurant wasn't open when we stayed but breakfast was plenty. The rooms were beautiful and the large common areas invited to sit and talk or pick up a book.

A minimum of half an hour's drive to the waterfalls, Salas...

A minimum of half an hour's drive to the waterfalls, Salas and Las Conchas reservoirs. In the village there's a restaurant that closes three days a week and you're lucky if you're not a guest; the other is a Michelin-starred restaurant, €50 set menu. To visit the area, Lobios or Bande are better options.

There are many things to see in the surrounding area, the Roman site of Aquis Querquennis and other very interesting archaeological sites, but it's important to go in good weather; if it's raining cats and dogs like it was for us, you can't see much.
