It’s one of the best hotels I have ever stayed , everyone of the hotel staff go out of their ways to be as helpful and give the best service anyone can get , not even hotels 10 x more expensive have such a care and attention to everything, dinner is superb too . Great parking for any type of cars like McLaren which are very low .

The hotel was right on the harbour so it was great to have...

The hotel was right on the harbour so it was great to have look around the boats ect. A short walk uphill into the town and you find plenty of bars and good restaurants. If you dont fancy the walk into town there are 3 good fish restaurants on or around the harbour. If you have a push bike there's plenty to explore like the lighthouse ect.

The highlight of the city is clearly the Playa de las...

The highlight of the city is clearly the Playa de las Catedrales. We went by it on the way in but it was rainy and overcast so we only did a drive by. The next morning was much clearer. We also lucked out as being at low tide. We learned that one should DEFINITELY watch the tide schedules when visiting as you want to get down and don't want to be trapped. Definitely worth a look, but Ribadeo otherwise is only so so.

We only had one night in Ribadeo, which by coincidence, was...

We only had one night in Ribadeo, which by coincidence, was during a festival. The night life was brilliant, with live music staged in the town centre, and several ad hoc groups of musicians moving around the town, as well as a fair. It was a great night, and we loved the atmosphere and the friendliness of the locals.

Ribadeo is a small seaside town.

Ribadeo is a small seaside town. Very quiet this time of the year. Easy to walk around but the town itself could be difficult for wheelchair users or people with visual or walking difficulties. Several of the footpaths are quite narrow and the kerbs are up to 30cm in height in some places. However outside the town centre, walkers should not experience any difficulties. People are friendly and helpful. I speak some Spanish and Portuguese, and found I could manage Gallego, the local dialect, which is similar to Portuguese. This is just as well as very few people can speak more than a few words of English. I noticed that most of the reviews were from Spanish people. You can take a local bus or walk on a boardwalk about an hour east to Praia Catedrais (Cathedral Beach), where there are spectacular rock formations where the sea has eroded the coastline. Some parts are inaccessible at high tide and there are clear signs warning that you will be fined at least €6,000 if they have to rescue you! This time of the year, Ribadeo would be an ideal place to visit if you are looking for a nice quiet holiday.

After a mix up with the room booking Henri upgraded me to a suite located next door to the actual hotel, very very nice and more facilities than I needed for a one night stay. Secure parking, some undercover around the back.
