Location is absolutely amazing - right by the cathedral. We were upgraded to the suite, which is fantastic. The window looked out at the cathedral. Electrically operated curtains let you see ( or not see) the view! Free standing bath, amazingly powerful shower, huge fluffy towels, large comfy bed with wonderful pillows. Fancy coffee machine, fridge and water. The 2 receptionists were so excited to upgrade us AND show us the suite. They genuinely seemed happy to be working there. Breakfast was well worth the cost. Good selection of coffee, tea and juices. Typically Spanish with hams, cheese, bread, cake and fruits. It was an absolute dream of a stay! Thanks to the staff for making it even better 😊

The room had an amazing view to a small, quiet plaza. The room was quiet, comfortable and cozy. The design of the bathroom was clever and meant it had natural light and didn't take too much space. The enclosed balcony was beautiful and I would had spent a lot of time sitting there enjoying the view if there wasn't so much to do in Santiago. I would suggest to have a kettle in the bedroom, for an early cup of tea or coffee in the morning. I know it isn't an expectation in Spanish hotels, so not an issue.

Perfectly located, near old town, the market and cathedral, just 10 mins walk from most important touristic venues, restos and pubs. Very quiet, confortable, surrounded by a medieval atmosphere with a great garden. I didn't request breakfast service, but the coffee was really good. Best accommodation we’ve stayed in during all of our month long Camino. Beautifully furnished, super clean, huge room and bathroom, TV with Netflix, coffee machine and they left us orange juice and two muffins so we could even have a small breakfast in the room. Quiet room at the back of the building with view of a cozy square and a big tree, and even the cathedral if you looked out the window. And this all at a great value for money in the heart of the city centre, just a few steps from the cathedral.

FAQs about hotels in Santiago de Compostela

A Valuable City with Rich History

The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and the place where the Apostle St. James is buried. The city’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its distinguished old monuments around the Cathedral and the tomb of St. James.

Made of granite, the spectacular Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela features massive bell towers and statues of St. James. The Obradoiro facade of the Cathedral is one of the most exceptional examples of the Spanish Baroque period.

Surrounded by magnificent buildings, the monumental square of Plaza do Obradoiro is one of the most historic squares in the world and the heart of Santiago. You can stay in one of the hotels, guest houses or apartments Booking.com offers nearby this majestic square.

The final destination of the Medieval pilgrimage route (El Camino de Santiago), this city is the best place to enjoy fresh fish and traditional Galician bread. Galicia is the seafood capital of Spain and the right place to savor Salpicón de Mar (seafood salad) and Pulpo á Feira (octopus cooked with salt).

The Christian pilgrimage route of the Way of St. James passes by Santiago de Compostela Airport, which is 16 km away from Galicia’s capital.

Santiago de Compostela is the terminus for all the Caminos...

Santiago de Compostela is the terminus for all the Caminos in Spain and is a good place to decompress after all the walking. The food is great, particularly the empanadas from El Trebol. The Pilgrim's Mass at the cathedral is worth attending (even if you don't speak Spanish). And if you are a Geocacher there are some fun Geocaches in unexpected places!

Santiago has numerous places of interest, churches, buildings, plazas, streets, monuments, statues and parks along with lot's of places to eat be it cafés, bar's or restaurants, some serving up excellent food, the best way to see Santiago is on foot through the many small streets & lanes where vehicles are prohibited.

I stayed for 3 days in SDC after my finishing the Camino Frances. I love the cathedral, visiting museums and churches, going to mass, meeting other pilgrims in the square, visiting and trying different restaurants and bars in the town. Spain has a very rich history and have enjoyed going through towns along the camino and finally finishing in SDC.

The Cathedral is a must, as is one of the daily Mass sessions (I'm an atheist but still appreciate the architecture and the rituals). The cathedral roof-top walk is worth attending, with beautiful views. However, it is also worth noting that the guide explains everything in Spanish, which is a shame. They could provide earpieces which translate into your language of choice. Santiago is a very easy city to walk around. There are plenty of good restaurants & tapa bars. I had a great piece of Veal at The Steak House is worth visiting.

Well worth exploring.

Well worth exploring. Still busy in late October but not overcrowded. Would have been even better if we had arrived on foot having completed a compostela. We would probably consider it excessively busy had we visited in the summer when 5000+ walkers arrive each day.

We loved the location of this booking. It was close to the cathedral, and restaurants. However, it was quiet enough to get a good night's sleep. There were several restaurants that were open early enough to get a yummy cafe con leche.

This is a very nice little hotel close to the centre of the city, a short stroll away from the cathedral and well placed for and all the main tourist attractions. We stayed there twice, once at the start and again at the end of walking the Camino Frances. Breakfast is more generous than is the norm in Spain, including boiled eggs, meats, cheese, toast, croissant, orange juice and coffee or tea. The staff are very gentle, welcoming and pleasant. The rooms are small but good, both had excellent showers. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in Santiago during a major eletrical blackout in Spain/Portugal, we were welcomed very well by a very nice staff and managed to handle the processes without any internet access or electricity. Quite a peculiar situation but the way they handled it was super reassuring and comforting, even the next morning they went over their way to make it up for something that was not their fault. Can't say enough good things, after completing a pilgrimage, this was a beacon of humanity and love in a world without eletrical lights!

Great location as the hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Old Town where there are a lot of bars, shops, restaurants, and of course the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and other tourist sites. Perhaps a two minute walk is the bus stop for the bus that goes to the airport, and this was very convenient for me.

It is a nice facility not that far from the Santiago de Compostela airport, at outskirts of the city. Non-pretentious, bur very much functional (which is for me very excellent correspondence with character of Spain :) ).

The best sleep I had in Spain. Brilliantly located and ran by the kindest lady you’ll ever meet.
