We really loved that place. Hosts were friendly and kind (they gave us really delicious home grown tangerine from the garde), the apartment itself is really big and well equipped (comfortable bed and bedclothes, big wardrobe cabinet, well equipped kitchen, big screen smart TV, sofa, big terrace with beatuiful panorama for the breakfasts and so on.) The apartment is far from tourist crowds, perfect and silent place to relax after a long day. Highly recommended! Wifi was stable.

Wonderful cake shop right outside apartment. Lovely restaurant opposite the church. Supermarkets in walking distance. Central location to visit the wonders around. You must go up here as completely different to the coastal resorts. We loved it and had amazing weather and locals very friendly. We treated two lovely old ladies to there dinner. They said they would never forget us...awwwww

We wanted a base, away from the very touristy south coast...

We wanted a base, away from the very touristy south coast resorts, that would enable us to explore the island's mountains, and its historical and cultural attractions by hire car. Vega de San Mateo turned out to be a delightful hill town, which was big enough to provide everything we needed (such as two big supermarkets, interesting shops, restaurants and bars). The town really felt like it was for the local people - with only a few visitors and tourists. That made it perfect for us!

Vega de San Mateo is a rural place in the mountains of Gran Canaria. Great to walk in the mountains and make a visit tot Pico de las Nieves, Roque Nublo en lovely small villages such as Tejeda, Artenara and Las Lagunetas.

Gateway to amazing hiking. The town itself is ok. Good selection of restaurants and grocery stores. The roads around the area are very scary to drive on. Extremely narrow in places with tons of curves and hairpin turns.

Absolutely fabulous apartment. Very comfy, clean and spacious. Nice decor. All rooms had tv. Very smooth check in and out. Perfect location in the centre and in the beautiful Vega de San Mateo. Directly opposite dulceria. We also had some cakes waiting for us to try :-) You can't park in front of the apartment but it is not a problem as there is a lot of free spaces on nearby streets.

Well this nice and really quiet remote place in the mountains fully matches the description but of course if you look for a luxury hotel this would not be the destination. Had the luck to be the only guest for one night in a room with 4 bunkbeds. Very nice atmosphere and hosts. Chimney Room ++

Really nice apartment in the very centre of Vega de San Mateo. Everything was very clean, spatious and well equipped. Fruits, coffee, and almond cake were really nice welcome gifts from the host, who was super nice and friendly. The apartment is a great value for money!
