What a pleasant surprise. Hotel on our way through for just a night and staff was super friendly from reception to restaurant. The meal of the deal was fantastic and included wine. Breakfast was good. Many people filled the bar for what looked like great quick meals.

We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch...

We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch the ferry to UK. This was a perfect place to stopover as it was about 2/3rds of the journey. We set off mid morning, arriving around 1900, in time to relax with a drink on the lovely terrace before dinner in the dungeons (excellent meal - best to book your table online with the castle directly). After a leisurely breakfast, it was an easy 3.5 hour drive to Santander to catch the afternoon ferry.

What we liked most was the castle itself and the friendliness of the staff. Next time we'll try the restaurant. What we didn't like was the noise from other guests, which continued despite us informing reception.

A very beautiful place, but the restaurant isn't up to the standard of this type of establishment. The rooms could use a little renovation. A very unusual location that might not appeal to those who are strictly modern. The pool is lovely.

This was our third time staying here, and it never disappoints. The surroundings and the castle itself are ideal—a place steeped in history and full of charm. I couldn't say what we liked most; we loved everything about it. I would especially highlight the service from the staff at the Posada Real—attentive, friendly, and efficient.

It's a dream castle.

It's a dream castle. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was exquisite. The staff were also very friendly, and everything was very clean. The views were spectacular. I recommend it 100%. It's a very romantic place.

I loved the castle, its surroundings, and the staff; everything was very well taken care of. The food was delicious, and the breakfast was plentiful and well-prepared. When I return, I'll try a superior room. On this stay, I was in one overlooking the moat, and it was damp, which was the only thing I didn't like about the trip.

The breakfast, included in the stay is just exceptional. Also, you are served dinner in any place of the hotel you feel like (the courtyard, the terrace, the Great Hall..). I had stayed one night before due to a business trip; and I knew I had to come back so that my family would enjoy this spectacular place. We did!

It is a hotel in a converted castle, where there are about 50 rooms in total, some rooms underground and some above ground. The breakfast is excellent, a highlight of the stay, and the environment of the castle is impressive. The beds are very comfortable.
