Hotel Rural Terrablanca is a nice farm hotel located not far from the border. It's a great location for families, with a trampoline and a super filling breakfast. The staff, especially Mrs. Sandra, is polite and makes the buffet breakfast very fulfilling, a perfect way to start the morning. The rooms and toilets are super clean. If visiting during the winter, I advise booking the swimming pool or garden view rooms because of humidity and lack of sun in the back rooms. Easy check-in, ample parking, and all the facilities you need.

We know this area very well, as we have a house in the village, but the last time we'd been, Finca Contrabando hadn't been built (pre covid). We stayed there as we had friends with us and 'not enough room at the Inn'. All I can say is fantastic. The salt water pool is epic (although a tad cool in April). Marta and the facility staff couldn't do more to help us. We fly in and out of Faro, and mis planned our transport to the airport needing a 5 seater cab early in the morning. One call to Marta (who speaks excellent english) and it was all sorted, cab turned up early the next day, and we had hassle free trip home. The Rio Guardiana is the boarder between Portual and Spain, all the locals are universally friendly (although if you know the basics of the language, it is warmly appreciated). Paying for goods by chip and pin/ contact less is not an issue either.there are regular ferry crossing every half hour between the villages, Finca Contrabando has its own jetty, so literally door to door service every half hour, or on demand if needed. We were a couple, but the rooms would be perfectly suited to families of up to 5 persons.
