The most beautiful, cozy and home-feeling accommodation I've ever experienced in Finland. Each room is unique. Everything is clean. Breakfast was superb. Very quiet place. Big confortable bed, and no lumpy pillows. The owners are wonderfully warm and easy-going. Loved it!

We spent a nice 5 nights here and I can say that it was as good as expected. The property has all the basic neccessities you need to spend your time here even with small children. The owner (Ari) waited for us to hand ower the keys and show around and was there over phone or by person if we needed anything. We also rented out the hot tub which was a well worth the extra price. There is a Kota at the property that can be used, and is equpeed to prepare anything you might want. There is also a traditional gas BBQ station that can be used. There is also a small jetty with a table to prepare freshly cought fish, if that is your thing, but we just enjoyed the scenery and the peace of the property. Ari also suprosed us with some freshly cought zander and the method to prepare it traditionally, and it was really good. There are plenty of activites to do nearby, so I would highly recommend this location for anybody that want to wisit this area of Finland.

Lots of things to do for a family holiday: golf, frisbee golf, table tennis. Sandbox and playroom for the little ones. Common room with a tv and a piano. Short walk to the zoo (there’s also a treetop adventure there) and its hotel where there’s an indoor pool/small spa (not too expensive for outside guests) and a restaurant. Lots of hiking trails too, and a beach whitin walking distance, don’t know what they are like as didn’t try them. The cabins are very clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly. Less than 1 km to walk from the train station, but the trains only run twice a day in each direction. 20min by train/car to Tuuri where there’s a free funfair for the kids.

Lovely little town.

Lovely little town. The zoo is definitely the main attraction but the ZipLine park is also fantastic. Our little kids loves the zoo and it was very well designed (bathrooms on the “track”, little wagons to pull the children in if they get tired. Near by there is also the Tuurin Kyläkauppa which was a fun place for the day. There are also nice nature paths and walks quite close to the center and the lakes have the possibility to rent boats and or balance boards.

We really only saw the zoo and stayed overnight.

We really only saw the zoo and stayed overnight. Pandas were so amazing to see. Zoo itself is nice and spread out over the whole reserve so an enjoyable 3-4 km walk. Good facilities in Ähtäri township for shopping or general life needs.

Ähtäri zoo is not like the real zoo, its more like wooden...

Ähtäri zoo is not like the real zoo, its more like wooden park where live average animals of the region, plus Panda which we wanted to see most, she was sleeping I will not come herw again and as by me that price 36eur is toooo high to pay for walking in the wood

Ähtäri is a wonderful place.

Ähtäri is a wonderful place. Golf tennis animal park nature lakes and hotel Mesikämmen and new swimming pool Spa top class. Wanha Pappila is a lovely cafe and lunch place. Village shop Keskinen is close by.

Friendly reception, Timppa host on site. The places are in really great condition, I was surprised by the cleanliness. Nice courtyard, good beach. Excellent old-fashioned sauna. Nice barbecue area on the beach.

The children loved the free golf and frisbee golf and we...

The children loved the free golf and frisbee golf and we played six holes with our son several times. Clean cottages and basic services. Ähtäri Animal Park right next door. It's worth visiting the Keskinen village shop in Tuuri, you can get free tickets for the animal park for children.
