We are travelling with a dog, the ladies on reception were very welcoming of him and, much to his delight, had biscuits for him! The location is great and the room is very comfortable. The restaurant was offering basic food because it was a Sunday evening but it was still very good.

We did a very last-minute booking as we were camping nearby, but rain was expected, and we didn't want to pack up in the morning in the wet, so we decided to book the apartment. When we walked inside, everything was immaculate and had all the amenities you could think of onsite. The apartment was very close to the town centre, and there were plenty of restaurants and bars available. I would stay here again if I were in the area.

Karen and Bart were very friendly, helpful, humorous and knowledgeable hosts. Genuine interest in the story of my Great Uncle, missing in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme 1916. I learnt a lot on my brief visit and remain grateful, a lot more than just a place to stay.

I love Albert as it makes an excellent base for exploring...

I love Albert as it makes an excellent base for exploring the Somme, I have based myself here a number of times. There is a great museum in the centre of the town, the historic basilica and some lovely architecture. There are a few small restaurants in the town centre and a great Asian buffet on the edge of the town. It is not the town for lovers of nightlife, its a slow relaxed town.

A pleasant town.

A pleasant town. Ideally located for the Somme battlefields, with a very good WW1 museum. I recommend The Royal Picardie hotel for a stay or for an evening meal, prices are good, quality high. The staff speak English.

Lovely countryside, quaint town, some good restaurants to...

Lovely countryside, quaint town, some good restaurants to try out local French food and produce. Close to many WW1 cemeteries, memorials and museums. We visited the Delville Wood Museum - a must see, we ate at the Salty Pig Restaurant, very friendly staff and a good night out.

Albert is an excellent base to visit World War 1 memorial sites from given its central location. The town itself has a number of very good restaurants and the Basilica and the Somme museum are well worth visiting.

Very nice town with friendly inhabitants. The 1916 Somme Museum is excellent and a Must to see. Seek out Brigitte De Cuyper at get-a-guide.co.uk if you want to learn all or anything about WW1/2, Very friendly and helpful staff in Le Bistrot & Le Hygge.

We wanted to stay in Albert as the centre for a tour of the...

We wanted to stay in Albert as the centre for a tour of the Somme WW1 battlefields and monuments. Virtually any site of importance is within a 15-minute drive - perfect. The Somme Museum, situated right opposite the hotel in which we stayed, is very much worth a visit.

Albert is a pleasant small town with an excellent underground museum dedicated to the men who perished in the horror of the Great War. The hotel was right in the centre and very convenient. We eat in the restaurant and enjoyed our meal, and breakfast was a French style buffet which was good enough. The hotel could do with better soundproofing but the beds were comfortable. We were able to keep our bikes in the locked back garden.

This hotel is situated just meters from the Somme battlefields and is a perfect location for exploring the battlefields. The breakfast was simple but tasty, excellent juices and coffee. The room was ok, it was a basic simple hotel room with all you need for your stay. A great bonus was the amble free parking at the hotel.

Great location for visiting the Somme Battlefields. Rooms were a good size. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were helpful. Parking is easy. The restaurant in the hotel was an unexpected bonus. Very good food and service.
