This is a rather quirky hotel but very close to where we finished our walk for the day so we were glad we didn’t have to walk too far to find it. very congenial manager. we arrived during siesta but he was able to show us our room etc. The room had an en suite shower/toilet and a little kitchenette which was really convenient for us as we had camping food to use up so saved on eating out. But we couldn’t resist the ice creams at the local pizza restaurant - Pizzeria Julie just around the corner.

The apartment was quite warm – it was 40°C outside and the air conditioning wasn’t turned on, so the place wasn’t cooled when we arrived. A small air conditioning unit is available, but only in the living room. We had to wait a little while for the check-in, but the host, although he doesn’t speak much English, was kind and everything went smoothly. The apartment is older and would benefit from some renovation and definitely more thorough cleaning. Otherwise, it has a certain charm and it’s fine for one night. A unique feature is that the elevator goes directly into the apartment.

Amélie les Bains is a pretty Spa town at the foothills of...

Amélie les Bains is a pretty Spa town at the foothills of the Pyrénées with easy access to the coast and Spain. Most of the accommodation is high rise studio apartments with very pretty views. A lot of people visit to take “ the cure “ at the thermal and Roman baths. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in the lively town. We like the restaurant l’authentique open Tuesday to Sunday. It is very easy to get around by bus and only 1 euro per journey. You can go to Perpignan, the coast or other towns along the valley. Would highly recommend this location.

The friendliness of the local people, good food and drinks. Very nice scenery and close to the Thermes. Altough, book well in advance!! Accomodation is in the hilly part of the city, close to the Thermes, but if you go on holiday without going to the Thermes there is no use in staying at that place. Better of in city center. Excellent pattisserie and traiteur with reasonable prices. Every Monday from 17h forwards T-dansant on Place Paul Boux or so???

It’s in the mountains and the thermes city.

It’s in the mountains and the thermes city. However, when we visited it was closed. There's another city Ceret nearby which was more lively and have younger crowd. I would say Amelie les Bain is more for hot/ cold springs and curing some health issues plus walk in the mountains.

The town reflects its accommodations: poorly maintained, with potholed roads, uncollected cigarette butts, and dog droppings everywhere. The town has potential, but nothing is being done to improve public spaces. It's better to stay in Céret, a town better managed by the local council.

It's a small town that retains a very old-fashioned and peaceful charm. It's an ideal destination to get away from it all. But despite this, it's located not far from the Spanish border and beaches for a day trip.

Modern hotel rooms within a large older building. Comfortable room with a decent shower. Balcony described as having a river view is a bit of a stretch as there's a car park between the hotel and the river but there's a nice view of riverside trees and the mountains beyond. About 10-15 minutes walk from the town centre on quiet roads partly alongside the river. Plenty of free parking. Nice breakfast.

Apart from a very local bar over the road there is nowhere to eat or drink apart from going into town. We did like the peacefulness of the hotel and the swimming pool area which is good for sunbathing!

The atmosphere in the hotel was peaceful and nice. My room was overlooking a beautiful mountain. I was able to enjoy a marvelous sunset and a cristal air. I will be soon returning to the hotel.
