Friendly welcome; HUGE and comfortable bed, very clean and quiet, and a good shower. We emailed ahead to ask for a ground floor room (as we had our dog with us), and they arranged that for us. Five minute drive to the central square of La Ferté-Bernard where we had a lovely meal.

Quiet location. Beautiful gardens. The breakfast was plentiful, fresh and very enjoyable. Croissants, pain au chocolate, jams, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, bread. Excellent garage parking for a motorbike. Lisa was lovely and we managed with our Franglais!

Out of politeness our hostess stayed to meet us when we let her know we were running early (normally it's a key box arrangement). She showed us the private garden down a little lane, which was handy as we might not have had the confidence to find it otherwise – it's a little way away from the house. This is a spectacularly well-equipped and well-managed property, easy to find on the main road of a very pretty little town, opposite the church. There was room for our car and trailer in the public car park immediately next to the property. We almost turned it into a game to see what our hostess might have neglected to provide. Dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, well, those are standard. TV in the sitting room, another in the front bedroom. Two showers and two toilets. Board games and books for children – check. Oh there isn't a toaster, so she's not perfect! But there it was, in a drawer. We were three adults (and a couple of dogs), but a bustling family group could have a fantastic break here.
