FAQs about hotels in Bordeaux

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.

On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

Lovely city and easy to access all the sights on foot.

Lovely city and easy to access all the sights on foot. It was easy to hop on a train for 32 mins to Saint-Emilion which is exquisite. Three days in Bordeaux itself was perfect. Had an outstanding meal at Berthus and enjoyed some fabulous wine during the trip

This city has so much to offer.

This city has so much to offer. It is a very walkable city, but also has great public transport. The landmarks and attractions are easy to access, and are all in relatively close proximity so you can plan a full day of excursions. The surrounding villages are so picturesque.

Great city, fabulous tram system, plenty to see over 3 days and the river trip is excellent. We did not buy a City Pass, just a 3 day tram pass and this was more than enough. The architecture reminds you of Paris/Versailles and just to walk round is wonderful. plenty of places to eat and drink, and the area around "Grandes Hommes" is very vibrant in the evening. there is a traditional French square around almost every corner.

Bordeaux is a great historic city with elegant eighteenth-century and medieval areas to explore, a centuries-old connection with wine production and export based on its position on the wide River Garonne, some excellent museums and galleries, and a an interesting and easily-accessible hinterland. It is well served by an efficient tram system and good links by train to other parts of the region.

The city is extremely diverse.

The city is extremely diverse. The sentence that came to me to describe it is it's a chill French ghetto resting on timeless history - and I mean this in THE best way possible. People are SO diverse, it's like everyone's free to be whoever they wish to be and noone getting into anyone's business about it. At first it seems a bit chaotic but after about half anhour it becomes just lovely really. Historical building are cool, as they are anywhere. My two personal favourites were the Darwin ecosystem and Passage Galerie Bordelaise - spent my last morning at the first and last lunch at the latter. One of the most peaceful, speacial days in when sightseeing.

What a gem of a hotel right in the heart of Bordeaux. The hotel is a beautiful little oasis in the city centre and perfectly located to explore the city on foot or grab a tram if you need to. Our room was spacious and we had a tranquil view of the inner courtyard of the hotel. Really a wonderful hotel to stay in when visiting Bordeaux - will definitely be back!

Excellent location, a short level walk from the tram station at Quinconnes (tram from station). In the heart of Bordeaux, so only a short walk to most places. Room was not big, but at this sort of price you don't expect to be able to play tennis in a city centre hotel room. Friendly helpful staff, breakfast was fine with gluten free bread freely aavilable.

Staff very helpful and friendly, bar/ restaurant very good for a hotel, Location perfect for airport and city centre. Getting about Bordeaux very easy using trams and buses. The Bar/ restaurant seemed to attract locals as well as tourists so always a wee buzz there. Meals/drinks prices similar to UK average, but the wine was much better as you can imagine.
