Karen was an exceptional host. The chateau is gorgeous and our room was luxurious. The gardens and pool area were beautiful. We arrived after walking from Carcassone and Karen met us with cool drinks and the offer to provide a ‘simple’ dinner, an extra and very appreciated offer after our walk. We ate the delicious three course dinner in the garden, with beer and wine served as well. Our breakfast included fresh fruit salad, fresh orange juice, yogurt, crisp croissants and warm bread, with accompanying butter and assortment of jams, then coffee. Would loved to have stayed more than one night.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Abbaye de Villelongue's chambres d'hotes. Although this historical Cisterncian abbey had been in ruins, it continues to be lovingly restored and maintained by the owners who live on-site. We marveled at the abbey's magnificent architecture, unique sculptures, serenity of the garden where fruit trees and some flowers were beginning to blossom and the colorful wisteria was in bloom. The rooms are located in the former monks' dormitory. Our room with its great garden view was uniquely decorated with antique furniture, pottery, gourds and was magical and romantic. The rooms are located in the former monks' dormitory. We were so comfortable there and slept very well. We enjoyed and appreciated the breakfast especially the homemade confiture (jam) and the delicious locally produced "brebis" (sheep) yogurt. We felt so special during our stay at the abbey with access to the grounds and garden whenever we wanted, its tranquility and location in the beautiful countryside. We enjoyed talking with the owners and were fortunate to meet their son and grandchild who were there for a visit. C'etait un sejour merveilleux!

This place is very special, situated in the lovely elevated village of Fanjeaux, it is a superbly designed suite of rooms with a stunning view for miles across the countryside as far as the Black Mountains. With its own private entrance, the first room in the suite is a spacious conservatory with cosy seats, beautiful plants, decor with books and even painting and sketching materials thoughtfully provided for guests. From here a door leads into very attractive mini-kitchen/dining room that looks out across the stunning view, with coffee-machine, fridge, microwave and little butler sink complete with a dresser filled with beautiful pottery and glassware. The next room with the same breathtaking view is the super comfortable bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The hosts have put so much care into making people welcome here and are very kind and responsive while giving guests perfect privacy in a peaceful space.
