The property was very clean and comfortable throughout, well equipped and had everything you might need. The terrace area was nice, and we had the pleasure of meeting the hosts dog and a cat who joined us for a few games of UNO and was very cuddly. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was big and clean,just like the rest of the property. We only stayed one night but would definitely come back for a longer stay.

We stayed at Hotel Grand Mess for 2 nights on either side of our road trip to Andorra in October 2025. The hotel is perfectly located, very convenient, and surrounded by loads of places to eat although most open in the evening. Our rooms were fab on both occasions, the breakfast was amazing, fresh and great quality, this felt like a proper french breakfast. The staff were great, we opted to park in the underground car park and paid 10 euro for each night but we could have also parked outside the hotel quite easily as there is ample space on the side too. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back and possibly stay longer too. It was the perfect stop after a 10hr drive from Lichfield, England.

A pretty village perched on the hills above Clermont.

A pretty village perched on the hills above Clermont. Very quiet. We appreciated the proximity to tourist sites and major roads, but the campsite was located in a secluded spot at the end of a cul-de-sac. We recommend this campsite.

A small, well-situated town near the Puy de Dôme, with varied landscapes and magnificent panoramas, but it's difficult to find a place to stop and take a photo. Roadworks, like everywhere in France at the moment, aren't making traffic any easier... Try crossing Clermont-Ferrand from west to east (which is usually done without any problems).

Breakfast was limited to the bare minimum. Compared to other hotels, the selection was less for the same price. The hotel needs renovation. The bathroom is very dated, as is the furniture.

The town of Ceyrat isn't very pretty.

The town of Ceyrat isn't very pretty. The campsite is very nice. Ceyrat is well located in terms of outdoor activities and its geographical position relative to Clermont-Ferrand.

The breakfast was excellent and the bedding very comfortable...

The breakfast was excellent and the bedding very comfortable. However, there was mold in the bathroom, and upon arrival, we were greeted by the chambermaid who found a dead mouse in our room. A disgrace!
