FAQs about hotels in Dijon

Monumental City of Mustard

Home to Dukes of Burgundy for 4 centuries, Dijon is a magnificent combination of colour and culture. Set on a large square with fountains, the Ducal Palace houses a fabulous fine art museum. You can climb Philippe Le Bon tower here for wonderful views of the multi-coloured tiles typical of the city’s roofs.

Equally as vibrant are the half-timbered facades in the Old Town. The best examples are in cobbled Place François Rude, where relaxed bars and cafes offer good people watching.

On a grander scale is Place Darcy whose Porte Guillaume arch faces a shady park. Dijon’s many green spaces include huge Parc de la Colombière whose central path was considered by Louis XIV the most beautiful in his kingdom. Another popular walk is along Promenade de l'Ouche starting near the hospital and ending at large Kir Lake where you can swim.

This is an evidently wealthy city, so there are plenty of places to shop, but a must-see is Les Halles market, designed by Gustav Eiffel, architect of the tower.

Don’t check out of your Dijon hotel, apartment or B&B without touching the owl on the side of Notre Dame church – use your left hand for good luck. Dijon Airport is a domestic airport, but the city is easily reached by car and train.

A great small city to walk around, with a very interesting old city centre and free museums. Good food to be had at a reasonable price in the restaurant "Bouillon Notre Dame", right opposite the Eglise Notre Dame near the market halls..

I like the small town vibe which is a relaxing trip.

I like the small town vibe which is a relaxing trip. Follow the owl trail to see all the important sights. Bonus is that we went to 3 wonderful museums for free. How generous of Dijon to offer that to all! You can walk everywhere in the center. Try the different Dijon mustard.

Lovely clean city can walk everywhere.

Lovely clean city can walk everywhere. Not much to see after 3 days at most unless you're filming a medieval period film or have to work or study. I say take a a late night walk through the city with the open empty pedestrian streets and no humans around. Quite impressive. But nah..not much else. Good afternoon stopover. Furthermore Dijon needs to let go of their co-dependent relationship with mustard. The seeds are no longer grown there. :) They are imported.

This was our third visit to Dijon as our daughter is studying there. So many places to eat and drink. Some fantastic finds and we are always finding new ones. Le Jacquemart is a great place for a drink or to eat. Steak and chips and a bottle of wine there is a must do ! The Blue Dog is in a lively square and is another place for a good drink and easy food. There are so many other gems we have discovered and the list is always growing. Dijon is also so easy to navigate if you stay in the centre, if you like to wander around and check out shops as well as bars and restaurants, its perfect.

Dijon was one of our favourite destinations in our tour of Europe. It is so easy to get around by foot - no need for a vehicle. The charm, food and great service provided by the locals was next level. We will be back.

Dijon is a lovely medieval city, interesting.

Dijon is a lovely medieval city, interesting. Walkable everywhere. Good bike paths.t he late night walks through the medieval old town part is quite something. Empty and ominous. Not many people at night in some parts so rather haunting. During the day is fine. 2-4 day max.

We stayed for one night on our way back home from the South of France and enjoyed the stay. The room was exactly as advertised - if you book a small and a bit generic room, you get a small and a bit generic room. The team was very lovely, the breakfast was quite okay. The neighborhood is really nice, it’s five walking minutes to the city centre. We would definitely recommend the place for a stay of one or a couple of nights.

The reception staff were not particularly helpful or the least bit friendly. Unlike other hotel receptionists whom I have experienced in France they were perfunctory and dismissive. To their credit they were helpful in emailing me information and to a degree they provided a room with a view which I'd requested. The room was absolutely bland and without distraction. I didn't feel at home. The location was perfect for me.

The hotel is an old Kloster and thus is very beautiful. The room is spacious. The staff was friendly and allowed us for 1 hour late check-out for free. The hotel is right in the city centre of Dijon and thus is very convenient to walk to many attractions, shops and restaurants.

Very nice hotel and ideal location to stop for a rest while driving through France. The rooms are very clean and we had the most loving welcome. The breakfast had lots of options and was better then expected for a stop-go hotel.

Supermarket and tram stop nearby. Walkable distance to city centre. A comfortable bed and the best sheets and pillows I've experienced in France, so a good nights sleep.
