Absolutely fantastic. Great host. Catherine made us feel like at home. We slept so good! Enjoyed delicious breakfast. It was our quick stop on the way to Bretagne but we felt lucky to have found it. A bonus: lovely outdoor area made our evening and morning here more pleasant. Merci beaucoup, Catherine!

This amazing italianate palazzo is a labour of love for the owners (YeS = Yva et Sam), who truly welcomed me in as if I was a friend, not just a customer. They even put on music I like over breakfast! The food was delicious and met my dietary needs perfectly. The decor is unique, gorgeous (gold leaf everywhere) and a touch sexy. The garden is lovely and has shady spots for chatting or meditating. The location is convenient for exploring Verdun and the battlefields, without being touristy. It's also an area I have previously found convenient to stay in, as a Brit travelling in France, because it's a reasonable day's drive from Amsterdam or Rotterdam, and an easy day from Calais.

A quiet rural location which we liked. Access to a large wild garden teeming with wildlife which we enjoyed. Hosts went out of their way to help us with advice and phone calls to local farmers to help us with access and allowed us to pick fruit from the trees.

Breakfast and dinner delicious. Chantal provides homemade pate, aperitif, and homemade jams as well as delicious cheeses and fresh bread, tasty chicken, good wine. But more than this the entire place is very special. Truly unique with the most magical garden. We were in the cabin which is more 'primitif' (I have stayed before, in the house which is superb) but nonetheless charming. So glad I managed a repeat journey here.

A good starting point for exploring the traces of the First World War. The cities of Verdun and Metz are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside for walking and hiking. The village itself is very quiet, with a pharmacy, bakery, and supermarket. Restaurants can be found in Verdun. The former battlefield of Les Epargnes borders directly on Fresnes.

The hosts were extremely friendly.

The hosts were extremely friendly. The apartment's comfort and amenities were outstanding. The overall atmosphere of hospitality was second to none. The location was quiet, on the edge of the village, in a pleasant landscape. It also offered easy access to the motorway.

A truly unique location, very tastefully decorated. A small room with self-service drinks, offered almost at cost. Breakfast was prepared with great care, including wonderful homemade jam.

Small village 10 minutes from Verdun. Ideal for walks.

Small village 10 minutes from Verdun. Ideal for walks. A hiking trail is a 10-minute walk from the accommodation. At the end of this trail, there is a lake with recreational facilities, a children's playground, and a restaurant. It was a peaceful stay.
