Do book restaurants before you arrive . The best place to eat was fully booked and there were few good alternatives if you want good French cooking.

It’s a historical place and if you like admiring old buildings and architectural styles and features- you’ll love this place. There’s quite a few decent restaurants too and lots of other places to visit in the surrounding area.

We spent two nights in Montmorillon, and that gave us an opportunity to explore the entire town. It's a perfect town for walking. There are lots of nice little cafes and restaurants in town. We especially enjoyed dining at La Creperie Le Brouard, which had wonderful crepes/galettes and salads. The service was very friendly, and the setting along the Gartempe River overlooking the old bridge in town was delightful.

Montmorillion itself is beautiful and quaint. Slightly quiet yet attractive and friendly . Parking is free and easy .
It needs more restaurants to be more lively.
Its a hidden treasure but sad that so many shops seem closed .
The views over the bridge and from the old church are exquisite. Definitely worth a visit . Everyone is friendly and warm . Great location. Great town. I was as outside the town but easy to drive to . Food is very good but lacks choice . A good restaurant near the river is a must. Book in advance it's busy. Menu is small but good . Staff excellent

We have loved Montmorillon for 18 years and always came back...
We have loved Montmorillon for 18 years and always came back, apart from COVID times! It’s a beautiful medieval city, there is a wonderful tea room right next to the river, fantastic location and beautiful rooms. The lady who runs the tea room, Kim is excellent always welcomes people and is the best dressed owner anywhere in France. You must visit her tea room next to the old bridge.

Lovely hotel with really friendly helpful staff. Tasty continental breakfast that was excellent value and an amazing restaurant where a group of us had an exceptional meal. lovely staff and great service they were patient with our attempt at speaking French.
The bedroom by no means plush was functional and spotlessly clean. Really comfy bed. Overall good value for money. Great location in the beautiful town of Montmorillon
