This place is astonishly good! Really cute rooms, beautifully decorated - with a bohemian, creative vibe! The lovely hosts showed us around their property and explained that we had use of lots of communal living spaces too. Breakfast was incredible... lots of delicious home made stuff (breads, waffles, jams, yoghurts, etc). The photos don't do this place justice!

Beautiful room, very tastefully decorated in keeping with the medieval part of town. Spacious, light and very clean. The hosts were so friendly, I would highly recommend a stay here. I hope to come back to explore the town a bit more one day. One tip, trust google maps even if it seems like you are going down a lane. Parking is right outside.

Lovely place. The staff were excellent. Facilities including pool and gym were a bonus. Very quiet, safe and secluded with easy parking. The rooms were large including bathroom and lounge/kitchen. The beds were very comfortable.

The historical parts of the town are exceptionally...

The historical parts of the town are exceptionally interesting and unspoilt, with great views over the surrounding area. There are food shops, bars and restaurants within the area or close by in the more modern parts. Navigating was a little tricky but car parking was easy. Other interesting towns and sites are within easy reach.

Parthenay is a much underestimated destination.

Parthenay is a much underestimated destination. It is distinctively French in everyway and there are very few allowances made to languages other than French. However, it remains its French identity entirely and has not succumbed to over commercialization. The medieval sector is totally unspoilt and authentic .Parthenay is very much comparable to York in England in miniature or Guimaràes in Portugal.

Most places closed in evening very limited restaurants available. Ok for one evening stay. I stayed for two weeks on business trip and had to get away the weekend, a boring place to be . The fact that it was January didn’t help, everything looks grey and miserable. The town is generally run down. Some nice small village’s to visit but how many chateau and churches can you stare at. Simply not for me .

It is a medieval town, with a wealth of architecture from the 12th to 15th centuries, and the town has preserved its historic quarters. There is a legend that says the fairy Melusine built this town; the restaurants "Le Panda Wok" and Le Sentier des Saveurs are located here.

The staff were helpful- I left my handbag in the dining room by mistake. It was swiftly returned to me. The location of the hotel was excellent for exploring the area- visited Le Grand Parc at Le Puy du Fou, the Futuroscope and the Venise Verte. The Panda Wok next to the hotel did an excellent eat as much as you like for €25 including drinks and alcohol.

Very quiet. Lovely room in old building tastefully renovated, right in historic centre. Adequate breakfast of muesli, fruit, yoghurt and home made bread provided by host, and good value for money. Comfortable bed. Parthenay is a beautiful little town.

We have stayed at the Chateau many times when we visit Parthenay. It's very convenient, near the shops and is set in beautiful grounds. So peaceful, we feel we totally switch off when we are here.
