Our favorite part of this visit was the friendliness and helpfulness of the entire Madison staff. They clearly explained everything, from spa hours, to breakfast options, and reception hours. It was very nice to have the option to get coffee all day on the balcony! The beds were SO COMFORTABLE! The breakfast buffet was a deal, with many options and delicious coffee! The rooms were spotless and had everything we needed! We could even cast our phone apps to watch english tv! Wifi worked very well. And finally, the location was close to everything! The harbour, the beach, shopping, grocery, and historical buildings. We will be back, and The Madison is where we will stay.

My experience at La Devinière was outstanding, and I was very sorry to have to leave. The guesthouse is charming and Monsieur Carérre makes every guest feel immediately at home. Guests are free to come and go as they please and have access to most of the building, including the kitchen; breakfast is served in the lovely back garden, or in the dining or living room in case of rain. Guests often take advantage of the couches to relax and read, and numerous books in French are available--including two of the owner-author's travel guides to parts of France. Impromptu conversations are common and frequently accompanied by wine. Rooms are furnished with traditional French/Basque furniture, framed art, and antiques so one feels, again, as though one is a guest in a delightful home rather than a hotel. Shelves throughout the building are full of mementos from M. Carérre's family; art and old books abound. Bathrooms are well equipped and lighting is good. There are several shops in the area, and many guests enjoyed shopping in them, and swimmers don't have far to walk to enjoy the beach. There is an elevator for anyone with mobility problems or guests who arrive "home" weary from a day of exploring.

Nice uncrowded beach getaway.

Nice uncrowded beach getaway. Good place to base out of as its close to Biarritz and San Sebastien. After visiting most of the Basque Coast St. Jean de Luz was nice place to come back to as it was a very relaxed atmosphere. The town had very nice shops and an attractive square with dining all around.

It was tranquil and full of life! The beach was beautiful and clean, loved the old town, beautiful drinks in the sunset, just lovely. Easy access to Pays Basque and Sans Sebastien for a day trip. Easy to drive to from other places.

It was a lovely little city.

It was a lovely little city. A good place to take a break before heading on to Paris. If I go there again I may stay a few more days. Also the absolute best baked goods I’ve tasted. The church were Louis XIV married was beautiful too.

Everything went very well. The hotel was amazing and in a beautiful location with walks close to within site of the beach. Secure and plentiful parking was a bonus and the breakfast was amazing. Also you receive a 15% 0ff voucher which we used at the grill restaurant a very short walk from the hotel. We could not fault this hotel in any way at all.

The Hotel is right in the middle of the restaurant area, adjacent to the beach and a few hundred metres from the main shops. The Hotel is really full of character and we received a very warm welcome. Even though our room overlooked a busy street full of diners the double glazing made the room nice and quiet.

Clean and well presented. Staff great . The restaurant opposite offered a good menu and gave 10% off the bill as we were staying at the hotel . Very quiet overnight. Would come again and near the motorway .
