This is a quiet market town in a spectacular spot.

This is a quiet market town in a spectacular spot. It makes a good base for anyone seeking the high spots of the Loire from a much less busy base. Saumur and Tours are not far away but this is an authentic French town. We'd recommend the Cafe des Arts for a fun French bar.

Best: the hosting - I've been traveling continuously for over 2 years now, and Marie-Claire is hands down the best host I've met. Made for this business! Warm and outgoing, helpful, delightful to get to know; she really extended herself to us to make sure all went well. Locaation - In a charming and quiet little nook of Thouars, an easy walk to the wine fair and a scenic climb into the center of town. Property - Fascinating multilevel property with many charming spaces outdoors, and well furnished indoors.

Marie-Claire was very welcoming and friendly, even though she was unwell and it was pouring with rain when I arrived. The bedroom was very comfortable and clean and the bathroom was well-equipped (great shower) and also very clean. I was able to store my bicycle in the locked courtyard. Breakfast was good and there was plenty to eat. Thouars is a lovely, old city, with some wonderful buildings and great views.

The hotel was ideal for me as in a quiet location and there was parking for my motorbike. As I was travelling and only staying for 1 night it was perfect. I took the option to have breakfast in the hotel and it was excellent.

Amazing breakfast of fruit, yogurt and croissants with an added bonus of enjoying a large pot of English tea! The decor of the hotel is absolutely stunning, so many beautiful details!
