Everything was perfect. The staff was very friendly, the environment was comfortable and intimate, the decor was beautiful, and it was amazing to soak in the jacuzzi while it was raining. This stay was an unforgettable experience for me. The hotel's dinner was also very delicious, the chef was handsome, and the ingredients were very fresh, sourced from the forest, private garden, and local suppliers. Surrounded by the forest at night and awakened by nature in the morning, it felt like we rediscovered our inner peace! We will definitely come back if we have the chance in the future!

We stayed in the quaint Games keeper’s house. Our stay was excellent, comfortable and very memorable. We made ourselves at home and were sad to leave this location. We explored the surrounding Chateau’s in the mornings and then spent each afternoon by the swimming pool until dinner. The main restaurant is fine dining with French cuisine. There is also a snack menu which is really good and we had this a couple nights as dinner on the terrace of the hotel.

We would rate our experience at this property as 11 out of 10, if this score existed! We were not here for holidays, but to visit the dealership, close by, from where we had purchased our camper van. Thierry, the owner; was so helpful to us, in allowing us to store our bikes and the contents of our camper (we had been on the road for 6 weeks, across France, Andorra; Spain and England) in his garage; whilst the vehicle was being worked on. We felt really 'chilled' in the accommodation. We enjoyed walking and cycling <especially> from our 'front door' along the Cher river, to and from the chateau of Chenonceaux. We hope to return. Thank you, so much to Béatrice and Thierry for making us feel so welcome and comfortable, and for facilitating our needs with storage.

Le Refuge d'Azay was perfect for our family visit to Loire valley. It is close to lots of castles and other activities that our small kids loved, as well as amenities. The house was well set up, with everything we needed in the kitchen and two comfortable bedrooms. The fenced outdoor area was also fantastic to sit in and watch the kids play. Valerie was very communicative and a great host. We would recommend anyone stay here!

Truyes is quiet but there is a wonderful small supermarket...

Truyes is quiet but there is a wonderful small supermarket with English-speaking owners that has great fresh local meat, charcuterie, fruit and vegetables. Truyes is close to some of the top Chateaux of the Loire, Cher and Indrois valleys. Chenonceaux 30 mins away, Amboise, Loches and Villandry a little further. Neighbouring small 'town' of Cormory has larger hypermarkets with petrol stations on the outskirts and there are a small selection of other shops and restaurants in the town.
