The first choice for accommodation in the Palace of Versailles is very close. Everything in the hotel makes us who have just arrived in France eliminate all our fatigue. It is worth more than five stars. The restaurant's cuisine is super amazing and delicious. We stayed in Versailles for 3 days to visit the palace (1 day) and to use as a base for trips into Paris (2 days). We could easily have stayed another day or 2 to see more of Versailles. We went to a lovely restaurant (Idam) near a market place for dinner, and there were lovely shops I didn’t have time to visit! I think the Notre Dame church and other museums would have been worth a visit, and more time in the park would have been lovely.

The apartment was nice, but felt the owners were extremely rude and not helpful. We paid extra money to show up early. Also got an email saying what time we could show up and that is the time we showed up. We really just wanted to put the luggage there and go out. A cleaning lady was there when we showed up and she was very nice and told us we could sit in one the the rooms that was already cleaned…..so we did. She was almost finished cleaning. The cleaning lady left and everything was fine until the owned called and was nnasty and rude and would not let us get a word in. She said we were extremely rude for showing when we did and bothering and getting in the cleaning ladies way. She would not let us get a word in or listen to what we had to say. We did receive an email saying the time we could show up. She was talking very loud and very rude and did not want to listen to anything we had to say. We also sent several emails asking for instructions for the tv, which we could not get to work correctly.. We never got a response.

Very clean city. Loved practicing my French but they always want to speak English ; ) super city to visit. Lovely polite people. Fabulous shops and sites. Definitely should be on everyone’s bucket list!

We went to the Palace (naturally!)

We went to the Palace (naturally!) but even though you have to book a time slot in advance, it was ridiculously busy and made the whole experience a disappointment. It seems as though the town of Versailles is being cleaned up and well underway and there are some nice restaurants and if you take the time to walk around. Don't expect a nightlife but there are some cosy bars and the people are friendly.

We only came for the palace visit and the garden walks. Best to book the palace tour in advance and Mondays only the gardens are open. It will cost for a family. The gardens are great albeit very formal but now electric buggies are provided for a cost which are a bit of a nuisance and noisy and look a bit unhealthy as nobody walks any more. The boating lake is fun and there is a very pleasant restaurant in the gardens for drinks and food. Its bigger than you think and can take many hours to explore.

Versailles Palace is very well managed considering the visitor numbers. There are timed entrances. Well worth paying for the extra private guided tours, especially Marie Antoinette's private apartments. We would strongly recommend staying overnight in Versailles to avoid the rush hour trains in and out of Paris. If you arrive at the Palace from 0800 you can walk around the side of the palace entrance and view the gardens before the crowds arrive. With an 0900 entry timeslot you can get straight to Hall of Mirrors before the crowds and then retrace steps of rooms you sped through! Only issue is that they need far more toilets, especially for women.

Me and my family had an amazing time in Paris at The Novotel Château de Versailles Hotel. The staff was friendly from day one at check-in. I even had challenges with my credit card and the staff allowed me to settle my account the next morning as we arrived late. The rooms were clean and spacious.

Great location and value for money and character! We stayed in a family room with 2 teenagers and it was great! Reception and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Lication well that tops it all. Close to versailles palace and countless great resto’s! Absolutely would recommend the hotel!
