The property is a beautiful old stone French house which has been modernised. It was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. The location is so peaceful and I really enjoyed having a coffee in the garden in the morning sunshine, listening to the birds. We checked in late in the evening and Marie couldn’t be there so she sent photos of where to locate the key, with great instructions. She made sure to be there in the morning as we checked out, and it was lovely to meet her.

Absolutely the best hosts we have come across. Very clean and good value for money. Lovely thick towels and facecloths. They cooked us a really lovely meal as most places were closed in Ruffec.

Suzi and Jon (and Joop the dog!) are natural hosts and gave us a very warm welcome. We stayed in the 2-bedroom cottage, which was very spacious and well-equipped, making for a comfortable stay. The fire had been lit ahead of our arrival so we were cosy and warm. Suzi had offered us the option of dinner, which we had in the main house and saved us the bother of going out again after a long journey. It was a delicious homemade three course meal made with the freshest local ingredients (i.e. eggs from Suzi and Jon’s own chickens and venison from a neighbouring field) and was very welcome. We were travelling with our dog and Joop was a wonderful companion for him to run around the large, enclosed garden. There was also a lovely walk down to the river very close by. The arrangement of the property was perfect for our needs and Suzi and Jon made us feel genuinely welcome. We would definitely choose Les Granges de la Leigne again - we really enjoyed it.

A nice cosy little (quite big actually) house in a beautiful natural setting. An absolutely gorgeous fireplace which made one forget the grey November sky. Everything was just perfect, a big thank you to our wonderful hostess, we would definitely like to come back … admire the flowers and trees in summer 😉

I loved the location! We stayed in the top room which had a secret terrace location which was amazing and if we were there for longer than 1 evening would have made lots of use for it.

Verteuil sur charente is beautiful .

Verteuil sur charente is beautiful . Had a day in confolens, not a great town and wouldn’t visit again . Visited Angoulême and lots to do great shops architecture and cafes / restaurants . Worth a visit

A very beautiful, typical Charente village.

A very beautiful, typical Charente village. Despite its small size (700 inhabitants), it has all the amenities and a magnificent heritage. The castle is now privately owned and cannot be visited, but it can be admired from the banks of the Charente River, and the village is very accessible on foot.

Wonderful place, spacious and quiet room, well-equipped with a kitchen downstairs where you can eat your meals, beautiful garden, lovely walks to take in the village and surrounding area, magnificent castle. I'll definitely be back.
