Friendly hosts immediately make you feel at home. Lovely garden to relax in. Breakfast features lots of homemade fare, a little bit unusual and totally delicious. Lovely quiet village with a good lake nearby to visit, and well situated in the North of the Perigord region.

Love this hotel, my aunt and I stayed here for 2 nights and my brother joined us for the second night. The hotel accommodated him at very short notice. My aunt and I ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening and the meal was superb. It is the second time I have eaten in the resurant as visit the area due to family living close by. The restaurant is closed after breakfast on Sundays. We found the nearest place to eat in the evening then was in Saint Junien a 20 minutes drive drive away. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Parking outside was free.

John was a wonderful host, very welcoming, informative and also provided us with a few essential groceries which was great for our first day. There was a slight problem with the Lodge but John quickly sorted out so we got a chance to stay in the Tower too. Both properties had everything needed, kitchen was extremely well equipped with oven and hob. Setting was beautiful and would love to go back in the summer.

Our host John was so helpful. We were able to use the pool and come and go as we please. The location was just outside a pretty village of St. Mathieu. The accommodation was like home away from home. The space inside and outside was lovely. I would highly recommend this property to couples.

Great location in nice surrounding area with small villages, hiking trails and perfect swin location in nearby lake. Old farmsite rebuilt to gite. Perfect well-equipped rooms, good beds and perfect breakfast. Very friendly and charming hosts who know how to feel comfortable! Perfect cooking talents of the host: we enjoyed the dinner at the gite on both days. For sure we'll visit this gite again!

We've already written a very detailed review, and it's highly recommended for those who appreciate peace and quiet, the countryside, and good hospitality. It was wonderful to be there, enjoying the garden, a short chat with the (English-speaking) hosts, and especially the tranquility. Highly recommended, with a wonderful breakfast.

A hamlet of little interest, but very close to the Charente...

A hamlet of little interest, but very close to the Charente lakes (5km), Rochechouart, St Junien... Well-maintained and clearly marked hiking trails. The peace and quiet of the countryside with the occasional tractor! Very welcoming and friendly people, and quite a few English speakers, which is good for practicing languages.

Peaceful and surrounded by nature.

Peaceful and surrounded by nature. Plenty of activities around Videix. Nearby lake, Roman baths, castle, local markets... A very nice little restaurant in Saint Junien: Le Numéro 19. La Table Limousine is also good, as is the Hôtel de France in Rochechouart. But the best restaurant remains Les Trois Chênes.
